Moving workshop/transporting machines - any tips??

Thank you all for the suggestions! Maybe i need to consider getting rid of the dollies, but that doesnt stop the rolling tool cabs which weigh a lot too. The manual says that the table saw weighs 215kg, and that’s without the cast iron table extensions, so probably closer to 300kg. The metal...

Moving workshop/transporting machines - any tips??

With a house move looming in a month or two (it fell through last minute few weeks ago, but re-sold within a few days thankfully!) i had already started packing away a bunch of tools and getting things prepped. So i just managed to put my table saw up on a dolly using a rolling car jack and a...

A lot of the workshop was packed away ready before our buyers pulled out last minute a week ago (have since re-sold), so one of the last things to be packed away were my wood lathe tools, so i turned a branch of yew i had for mother’s day tomorrow. Replaced the bark inclusion and filled some...

Thanks Shan! I had a couple of different size branding irons made via etsy a few years ago. Something like… https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/260733879/2cm-10cm-custom-leather-stampleather?ref=yr_purchases Fairly cheap for what it is. I only got the brass stamp made, then made myself a handle...

Sale of the house fell through end of last week being only 3 weeks away from completion, so with a bunch of tools and wood already packed away ready for moving I thought i’d spend a few hours of my day off on the lathe yesterday. Nice chunk of Oak Burr. Largest bowl i’ve turned on this lathe...

Finally finished this Welsh Oak bench with Gabon Ebony dovetail keys. This is the final ‘proper’ project in this current workshop before the overwhelmingly daunting task of packing everything up ready for moving house!! o_O

    Yew Boards.....

There’s nothing stopping you approaching the likes of somewhere like Timberman in Bronwydd (Carmarthen) to see if they’d be interested in a wholesale purchase? It might not get you top dollar, but i’m sure it would be less hassle for you overall?

    Simple shop made tool

Allan key bit for use in a drill? Or maybe some kind of rotary hex broach to make hex shaped holes?

They dont actually look too bad after flattening! Slab on left has nothing on and slab on right has some white spirit to see what it might look like with finish on. Obviously the slabs are Oak, but the keys are Gabon Ebony

Got in some reps doing butterfly/bowtie/dovetail keys (who knows which term is correct!?). As usual i overcomplicate things for myself, so the design and shape i came up with was far from straightforward to do. As well as hogging out as much of the waste i could with a 1/4” bit on a plunge...

    Les Paul Style Guitar Build

Excellent work!! Nothing wrong with initials as a logo, i use my initials as my ‘makers mark’…

    Tool Cupboard plans.

Regarding the organising of your tools, i recommend kaizan foam. Takes time to cut out all the fiddly shapes and get the depths right etc, but it’s quite therapeutic work :D These are a few of my drawers, which i mainly did to prepare for a house/workshop move

Nothing complicated, but while some epoxied cracks were curing on a couple of slabs i decided to give my drill press a little upgrade.

I use one of these knives… https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000BKA6IA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_GR4B5F4AXEHKQFCM55NH?tag=forumyield-20 Or use a scalpel. Once the outline is cut you just peel it up with your fingers. It’s not easy to make the bottom of a cutout flat, so there’s a lot of picking...

Starting to get a few things ready for a house (and workshop) move, so being paranoid about all my tools getting jiggled about during transit got me wondering about this Kaizan foam stuff. So as a treat to myself i bought a whole bunch of it. The cutting out of the foam is very therapeutic and...

Thanks Grantx! If you’re talking about the bottom of the foam, it’s flat so it’s not curved around the circumference of the bottle. If you’re talking about just cutting out the outline of the shape i just used one of these knives… Olfa ARSAC-1 Olfa ARSAC-1 : Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools But if...

Got it ready just in time!! My second ever chopping board. Made of London Plane. For my cousin’s wedding this weekend, but i cant make it there, so having to post it meant i went a little overboard with the packaging!! I used Kaizan foam for the packaging. Also had a little play on the vinyl...

Kitchen Knife Set - Recommendations Please?

Hahaha. Yep, i originally bought three of them which stretched the budget a little, then at a later date decided to get the Nakiri as well. Never say never, but i dont think i’ll need any more than these four as they cover everything i need at present.

I know the place, it’s a lovely little shop, but generally quite pricey

Kitchen Knife Set - Recommendations Please?

Thanks for all the suggestions. This is the set of knives i went for in the end, with the magnetic knife holder behind (from ripples sweet chestnut). I’m over the moon with these knives, they do a superb job and get incredibly sharp.
