    Sauter Shop and import taxes

I've heard some real scare stories about the admin fee shipping companies add to an order. They hold it in this country and notify you the total due and ship it once paid. I buy stuff from Taylor Toolworks in the US Taylor Toolworks and they add vat and a surprisingly reasonable shipping charge...

Quick question on dust extraction piping

Totally agree, I heard a DX4000 twin many years ago and it was deafening but the green Camvacs (now owned by Record and still made in the UK) are very quiet, especially if you vent the exhaust outside. Dennis from Hooked on Wood takes it a step further here

Quick question on dust extraction piping

You might find the addition of a HPLV connected to power tools and bench sanders etc. would work well, possibly with a blast gate dust hub? The principle being to reduce the long lengths of ducting whilst keeping blast gates in a central location. Here's one example but just do a search on...

Tenon saw is not sawing coplanarly

Much better but it looks like you are sawing on the pencil line instead of the waste side of the pencil line, or you have chiselled away too much during the clean-up?

    Starting out power tools

I recommend you buy only the tools you will need to build your workbench for now then add as needed. Also watch YouTube videos to learn techniques that work for you then practice, watch again try again - rinse and repeat Router - I would buy a trim router not a bench router at this stage and...

What ideas have you had for reducing Electricity consumption

I replaced all our bulbs with CEF when we first moved in 16 years ago, since then I've replaced these with LED. However, I've only just discovered that LEDs are energy rated and most are E to G! I then went round feeling each bulb after it had been switched on for a while and was surprised that...

    How's this for a conspiracy theory ?

You won't ever make him happy, he grieves the downfall of the Soviet Union as much as Hitler grieved Germany's loss of WW1. The best way to beat him is to let him burn himself out and the Russians will remove him.

    Mafell P1cc buying advice

The Makita you've given your Dad might have a warped base. If you hold it up and look towards the blade, check that the base either side of the blade is level. mine was tracking badly and that's what the problem was; a new base is only around £20 on eBay. I watched a demo of the Mafell last...
