Protecting an Adirondack Chair from the UK weather

If I were you I'd treat the softwood one as a test and make it again from iroko or similar hardwood, even then it would need annual treatment. I wouldn't advocate creosote for something you sit on, it's banned as it is carcinogenic. Nice chair though 👍

    MFT Top Protectors...etc

I use the UJK clips on my Triton track and they work really well, pulling the track tight against the dogs, but they don't fit some tracks e.g. Evolution. It's the diameter of your mft holes that you need to check, the parf dog rail clips fit 20mm holes. The only difference between the 20mm mft...

    Router bits

I would only buy what you need for the current project and buy Wealden. This can be frustrating if you need a cutter in a hurry but it pays to wait and Wealden provide a fast delivery, usually next day. That said I have bought several 1/4 inch Erbauer from Screwfix when I needed them in a hurry...

    Shop Vac

I'd be a bit wary of using a loud shop vac. I use a Einhell with power take off (v useful) but lordy is it loud, louder than my all my power tools including my table router. I'm already getting fed up transferring the hose from one tool to another so I'd think about a simple dust extraction...

Advice needed Boxford Union Pillar Drill (UPDATE)

Now onto the cable junction box, thanks to the advice to glue in a piece of aluminium and sourcing the correct conduit and glands I've gone from this to this I've sprayed the repaired junction box 3 coats of etching primer for now, again until I fully restore the drill. For now it's...

Advice needed Boxford Union Pillar Drill (UPDATE)

Thanks for the advice on fixing the motor tensioner, a crowbar fixed it! However, the belt was so slack I had to pull the motor a good way out so as the belt looks relatively new and in good condition I suspect it's not the right length so I'll measure up for a new one. Simply tensioning the...

Which bench dog / MFT system?

Looking at the 1st pic in my op above 2 lengths of 4x2 set into the side jaws then 2 noggins screwed into these on the inner side of the saw horses. Then removed the part built frame to screw in one length of 4x2 down the centre. I also added 2 blocks to screw the middle corners of the mft's...

    Workshop Ceiling Query

Yes you should insulate between the roof covering and the ceiling - install as much as you can and can afford, and then fix a vapour barrier over the insulated rafters before you fix the plasterboard. This will prevent condensation. Capital Valley Plastics Ltd Vapour Barrier Green 300ga 20 x...

    Tantalised Roofing Battens

It's because I installed t&g sarking and needed to sag the membrane slightly and also create a vapour gap. This is what the shingle supplier instructions say to do but it is a moot point, some say lay the membrane directly onto the sarking and double batten over that giving a 50mm gap. It has...
