    Boiler change!!

The internal part of Ground Source Heat Pump systems are basically the same as Air Source or Water Source Heat Pumps, However the external part of the systems are very different, GSHP work by pumping a fluid through either: 1. A large coil buried in your harden; the largely constant temperature...

    Boiler change!!

In this context efficiency is the required heat at least cost. We agree that sticking in an oversized heat pump with large rads and poor level of insulation isn't efficient. I wasn't commenting on the efficiency of the heat pumps themselves.

    Boiler change!!

ASHP or GSHP will only work efficiently if your house is very, very well insulated and your radiators and/or underfloor heating are sized correctly. Otherwise you will be paying out a huge premium for a larger system than you need and it will be working far harder to keep you warm. Insulation is...

Why don't we use more Chestnut?

From the Vastern website: Sweet chestnut trees suffer from ‘stress’ and as the boards often split up the middle after cutting they do not tend to be particularly wide. Thanks for the pointer @2sheds as I have a plan to build a couple of Adirondack chairs one day.

Help saving an oak veneered front door.

A finishes supplier told me never to use oil or solvent based finishes on veneer as it will delaminate, then another, who sold Osmo UV, told me it would be fine - so I did and it failed. I can't say for certain it was the Osmo, or the veneer or a combination of both but I've little to lose in...

Why don't we use more Chestnut?

Yes I've just bought a load of pales to hold up a new dead hedge. Sweet Chestnut lasts for donkey's years in the ground but when I built our pergola I dug out the 6-7" post holes with only an inch or two of space around then back filled with rammed gravel, as that is what the supplier advised.

Help saving an oak veneered front door.

I've been following this thread with interest as we have a similar problem. 5 years ago I bought a external door from a guy on eBay for £80. It was meant to be temporary until I built my new workshop, when I planned make a new one; however, Covid and life have delayed the build. Ours is an...

Why don't we use more Chestnut?

I've bought a lot of cleft sweet chestnut for the garden over the years and I'm planning to buy a load of post and rail sections soon.. Once when I was talking to the owner of Say It With Wood in Herefordshire about chestnut cladding he said that it does have a tendency to split badly resulting...

    Best router for table

yes but I use an Incra Insert in my self-made table. If you want to use the tabletop adjuster you need to make sure there's a suitably positioned hole in your table. However, you really don't need to - I often adjust from under t he table as it's faster.

    Best router for table

Take a look at the Trend Unibase (or Axminster equivalent) as this may allow a Triton to fit your table. I have one fitted to my Triton MOF001 to allow me to use Trend bushes. I'm not sure if you can use it with a Trend table mind you as you normally remove the base to fit to an insert.

    Ceiling fan

My wife and I have toyed with the idea of a ceiling fan in our bedroom and due the impending heat wave and probably more in future years, I've looking at them again. Does anybody have one they can recommend at all? I need one with a remote.

    Hi from Malmesbury, Wiltshire

Hi @baileytog welcome and nice shop! Is that a Triton mitre saw? What do you think of it? It would be good to post a shop tour, describing what you have done in each section and a review of your machines etc.
