    Dying trades

I wonder if the trusted, local contractors are former apprentices who served their time, took the quality training on low wages then struck out on their own to improve their earning potential? Not knocking either side, I appreciate an individual's need to earn but I can see the company view that...

    Hedgehog house

That's exactly what happened with the one I put out some years ago. Hedgehog have very soft feet so it is recommended that you line the ramp and entire interior with soft material.

https://www.royalmail.com/switzerland If this link is to be believed about £5 however I've used this online guide before and when I've gone on to my nearest PO they've come up with figures way above the online price! I'll take 100 of each in and get an over-the-counter price for you on Monday.

I have a quantity of Kreg Pocket Hole Screws which are now surplus to requirements so selling them off in multiples of 100. They are #8 Coarse Screw for use in softwood (work in ply too) and I have them in 1" (25mm) and 11/4" (32mm). £7 per 100 including postage which I believe is cheaper than...

    Sold.

Will probably regret this but need the space and the cash so offering my Record Power DS300 disc sander for £165. Not quite a year old yet and only received a modest amount of use. Weighs a hefty 33kg so might be better for buyer to collect. Comes complete with mitre gauge.

    Bandsaw and bobbin sander

The largest sized bobbin from the original Triton bobbin-only can be used on the b&b version albeit you might have to make an insert plate to allow for the extra width. The rubber drum can be bought as a spare for around £13. The table can be angled too.

Third time lucky - well, for them! They've now offered almost double the original amount bringing it pretty much to where I had hoped to be. In truth, the car owed me nothing. I bought it in December 2008 from a local dealer. It had been their demonstrator car so had barely 3000 miles on the...

Convert Titan P/T to full time planer

If it's fitted to the outfeed table, won't it be clear of the blade?

Thanks all. The car is now twelve years old. When I insured it last year I looked up similar models on both ebay and autotrader to arrive at an insured value of £2000. There's obvious damage to front wing, driver's side - not pretty but not the end of the world. As mentioned, there's the...

Last week, the 'boss' had a bump while driving my car (she is a named driver on the insurance policy). The insurance company want to write it off without even looking at it, offering a payment that won't buy a comparable replacement. Anyone know how I stand with that? At the moment, I've not...

    Garage Doors.

I'm not sure why the U&O works as well as it does as it's very far from hermetically sealed! I would love to make the doors myself but fear my limited skills would compromise both the "well made and well fitted" criteria.

    How much??? Craftsmanship and cost.

One of my photographer friends with more years experience under his ever tightening belt than I have years on this planet starts to foam at the mouth whenever he sees the term 'Awesome' applied to a photograph that is clearly anything but. I've gone to places where they've actually said "Oh...

    How much??? Craftsmanship and cost.

I'll bet I don't need to tell those trying to earn a living from woodwork that there's very little appreciation of craftsmanship these days, nor the time put into acquire it or time spent using it in creating something. I'm neither a pro woodworker nor a cobbler but I know full well from my...
