Great video for a newbie - NOT

Lesson #1: Keep all offcuts, one never knows when they might be needed for a makeshift table-saw!

Good job it was cold in there today otherwise it might really have hurt!

    Rivet Nozzles

Not sure where the link is taking you but when I checked it just now it went straight to an ebay listing with a whacking great big picture of my rivet gun. Thanks though, by no means sucking eggs with some salient points I wish I'd known earlier. On average it takes two to three pulls to...

    Rivet Nozzles

It's this one. I did end up taking it apart when I first got it. I had been wearing goggles as the limited instructions advised but having taken them off to read something a spring came flying oout of the gun and oppped me right in the eye! And having seen how the mandrels come flying out of...

    Rivet Nozzles

Following some advice on here I bought a Clarke rivet gun. Although described as 'new and unused' there was a mandrel wedged in it however, for the sake of the fiver it cost, that wasn't an issue. I guess it's possible that may have been left from a QC check? Did take a while to get it out. It...

    Reveal

Without wanting to sound snide or snotty, genuine question, why would I want to do that? Which reminds me: in his videoseries Ron Fox uses a bearing guided router bit to create a hinge jig for routing with a guide bush. If you have a bearing guided cutter, why would you need to use a guide bush?

Since I cannot find a reliable joiner to hang some doors for me I am going to try tackling the job myself. Looking at the office door behind me I notice there is a gap between door and frame and it's not the same all the way round. I have some questions, first being is the reveal on the hinge...

DeWalt Thicknesser DW733.. anyone have one?

After sacrificing a fingertip to an (otherwise) lovely Elektra HC260 I replaced that (the planer, not my fingertip!) with a Triton and found it pretty good with regards to snipe. I did have some issues when I tried to feed some 13 feet long, 9" wide, 2" thick scaffold boards but I think that...

Pillar drill recommendations for a £300 budget

Having been there recently myself I opted for the Bosch PBD40 and I love it. Variable speed at the turn of a dial, none of this belt-changing malarkey, built in light and cross hairs and a head that raises and lowers smoothly and easily (but locks up tight for drilling!) rather than wrestling...

Have I gone over the top?

It's a post-EU tree, none of this conforming to an approved and rubber-stamped uniform and symmetrical nonsense. Also tastes better.

    FREE GIVEAWAY drilling machine.

Any idea what it's original use was? It's a while ago know, afore the whole world went digital, but the print company I used to work for bought something similar to punch holes in films and plates for (supposed) speed of mounting and registration on the printing press.

    Crippling camels

I'd love to be a mod although there are one or two who wouldn't like it. And, for the record, Jacob isn't one of them. I would dispute the highly contentious "quantity over quality" claim. There were some well-reasoned arguements and insights offered. As the originator of the post I was amazed...

    Crippling camels

It contained more than four times as many posts as the next most popular thread and an even hogher order of magnitude of views - I'd say that makes it the most popular although not necessarily the most liked. Like your videas, by the way.

    Crippling camels

Many sufferers of "dubious mental health" are the very people who were once full of "humanity and goodwill" that they doled out so generously to others that they had toolittle left for themselves yet rarely, if ever ,do they receive the same consideration from others.

    Mirka or Festool Sander?

Another vote for the Festool although I did it the other way round by buying the RO150 first then adding the RO90, mostly for its delta option. I find the extra weight of the RO150 actually makes it easier to use and I use it far more than the smaller version. I know no-one is supposed to...

    Crippling camels

With you all the way on that one, really can't understand the mentality of those who complain they don't like a particular thread but keep visiting it to repeat how much they dislike it. Weird.
