    Any advice welcome

I'm bit of a way away from you however if you're still looking for a lathe then take a look in the for sale section where you can see the lathe I'm hoping will sell to a fellow member. Perhaps more significant are some of the comments other members have left concerning the lathe.

    Sold Jet JWL1221VS Lathe

Over the years, I think I have gained more from this site than I've contributed so I thought it might be a bit of payback to give another member the option to obtain a decent lathe at a reasonable price, someone who might appreciate it more than the "I'll give you a fiver, mate" chancers on...

Is it possible that the price is set so low potential buyers think there maybe an issue with it?

    MFT sacrificial top

    5) How small is small? It's perfectly possible to make repeat cuts by laying out dogs to square rail to workpiece and use a stop to give the desired width, eg for ripping panels into strips where the rest of the panel supports the rail. Not quite so good for sizing strip wood as there's...

    Popping my Axminster Cherry

My advice would be to take your budget in cash and leave the plastic at home. I've been to the store at North Shields - where I guess you'll be heading - and all I can say is my bank manager is glad the Tyne Tunnel is there to deter any 'popping in'!

    Price of the sheet materials

Pre-covid, my local B&Q was £32 per sheet. CLS 38mmx63mm was £2.50 per 2.4m length, it's now £5! I joined the B&Q club and used to receive regular emails, offering discounts, e.g. £10 off spend of £30 or more, which made the boards much more affordable. Not had such a voucher in years. Queried...
