There's a unit at the end of one of the isles in our local B&Q (Eastwood) and I've seen a similar area at the Sutton in Ashfield one, where ex-display stuff is on offer at knock down prices, usually with bits missing. Triton circular saw is on the pile at the moment for about £80, no box...

I find these handy for initial investigations, doesn't require opening stuff up and little or no chance of frying yourself.

My local B&Q has now cleared all the Triton stock etc and they now have on offer 1 Bosch, 1 Performance power and 1 odd unbranded thing on offer. The Trend and Triton are no longer available, all the Trend cutters and accessories are now gone. There are however a few performance power cutters...

I'd say go for the height you're comfortable working at. Just be careful with any heavy or top heavy machines where mounting them high may cause issues of stability.

At the moment, it's a question of laminating enough MDF together to get the required thickness for the template cutter bush to run on something without the cutter going too deep, or finding a stubby template cutting bit I guess. Oh I bet it will, cutting the slot of the track wasn't too bad...

Rutlands do a flat dakota insert, not tried mine yet, still plucking up the courage to cut the hole in the top of my table! :)

It's probably over kill, but having had PVA fail on a couple of things, I've taken to using this stuff which is fast setting, weather resistant and incredibly strong.

Can I ask where you sourced the extra collet from?

Almost certainly, and I'll bet it will be cheaper to boot! My local woodyard does 8'x4' 18mm ply for under £20 a sheet :eek:

A good supply of 8-12mm perspex / polycarbonate is handy as well. We have a local supplier that makes signs, I nip in and beg the odd offcut either for free or a few pennies!

Having had a 1/4" bit slip out of the Triton collet with the supplied reducer, I could well be interested in a properly sized collet if it fits!
