    Aldi chainsaw sharpener

Why? What do you find wrong with them?

    Aldi chainsaw sharpener

I have no experience of it, so probably shouldn't comment at all :). FWIW if anyone is looking for a grinder have a look at the granberg precision grinder. It's just under £100 ex vat, but it's 12V so great for use in the field, and although it looks like something Heath Robinson would be...

Are Grippers much safer than push sticks?

Pac1 is correct. However I find it's very rare for a bit of wood to do that and that when is does it stalls the blade rather than anything else. (Using a 16A 250mm schep 2500). With well seasoned wood it's not something I worry about overly. But if, for some odd reason, I was cutting a bit...

Are Grippers much safer than push sticks?

Wise advice from Powertools and Maznaz there. Maybe two more? 5. Don't remove the blade guard, or if you do, PUT IT BACK. 6. Never crosscut using the (full length) rip fence as a length stop.

    Rip cutting with a chainsaw

You can do, but it is a bit of a pain unless you have a ripping chain and a decent chainsaw. (I plank my own timber and it is hard on the saw, even with a well sharpened rip chain.) If the logs are too wide won't you have the chainsaw well buried in the wood during the cut anyway. It's not...

Workshop LED lighting making me motion sick

I have LED battens and (luckily) I don't seem to be affected. I believe the usual symptom is a headache of some form rather than motion sickness. Unless they are direct current (most are not) they will flicker. Our eyes can detect it, but you won't consciously notice it and most people won't...

Are Grippers much safer than push sticks?

One more vote for the long handled wooden push stick. If I'm cutting a shorter piece I'll often use two, one to push the wood through and another as a sort of featherboard to nudge the wood against the fence when starting the cut. Maybe I'm paranoid and the gripper is OK, but I always feel...

    marine ply

Real Lloyds certified marine ply is eye wateringly expensive, but it really does last. However, I‘d vote for a bit of cement board for that aplication. You can immerse it and it wont warp or loose strength. Wickes sell aquapanel in small sheets that will go in the car.

Outfeed Roller Replacement or Repair? Elektra Beckum HC333

Hi ND, Oh heck, I’ve already agreed with Adam to send the roller down to him for a refurb. However Im pretty sure your roller and the other bits wont hang about for long. I must admit I did think about changing, but tbh its a just a great machine for what I want to do. I must have run a few...

Outfeed Roller Replacement or Repair? Elektra Beckum HC333

I was going to post exactly the same enquiry, so many thanks for the lead on AMC rollers. I've asked them if they want to do another one. Those drive wheels are deceptive, they look like metal, but they aren't. I don't think you'd get way with 3D-printing them, at least not with a normal DIY...
