    T & G double V style panels

I am converting a free standing breakfast bar (never used) into a kitchen island. I need some of the above (about 45mm centres) to match the rest of the kitchen. Just been online and is very expensive - full sheet £90. Anyone know anywhere more reasonable or any ideas? Thanks

    Electric vehicles

I currently have a Diesel just because I used to do 20K+ miles a year. I now do about 8k so wouldn't choose a diesel again. However, I've took the depreciation hit and taken the view that I run this for a good few years more and then purchase and electric if they are comparatively cheaper than...

    Dust extraction

Is there anything after market to pick up the saw dust from the back of the blade?

    Dust extraction

It's only 40mm. I've got an old Dyson attached to it which does OK but there's still lots of dust from around the blade

    Dust extraction

Thanks again Doug. Read the article and think I might do both. Have a LPHV for my mitre was (which doesn't move) and some ducting and hose for my table saw (which is roughly in the same place when in use but moved to the side when not) Haven't decided on cyclone yet. need to read that article...

    Dust extraction

I have been on the forum for a couple of months and read some really interesting stuff about extraction but still not sure about blast gates, cyclones, shop vacs etc. I have a small workshop, 3m X 3.6M (2/3 of what was my garage) I have a mitre saw at one side, a mobile bench and mobile table...

    Mitre corners

Just been reading a separate article about scaffolding boards and thought if you want a mitred finish, cap of with those. Rustic look and can replace cheaply when they rot??

    Cake stand help

Couple of ideas to source slices. Are there any sawmills near you that turn trees into timber? They may be able to help. Or a log processor. They basically cut trees into bits and split them. They may cut you some slices. Kiln dry as well but splitting issues. There was a thread a few weeks ago...

    Metal Shed sealant

Thanks guys. i think I'm going to go with the suggestion about the self levelling compound on the inside once it is fixed down, and run sealant around the external base. I'm only using it as a shed, not a workshop so will condensation be such a problem? It wasn't in my wooden one.

    Metal Shed sealant

Thanks all. I will be putting a waterproof "tarpaulin" on the floor and then OSB 12mm sheets on top of that. Incidentally I did price up shiplap etc to build one, but it was nearly as expensive as buying a metal one one from Sheds.co.uk - 10' X 6' £384. Base extended today. Build starts tomorrow

    Metal Shed sealant

My 20 year old wooden shed has disintegrated and I have bought a metal one which doesn't have/need a base. It bolts to the concrete hard stand. I think I need to seal around the base frame to the concrete to stop water ingress - any recommendations? Just been to B & Q and their "frame sealant"...

    Fence covering

I would bet the concrete post will be there when you are long gone. Drilling and plugging to take small eyes for wires won't hurt them. Some good plant suggestion. Also Passion flowers are good climbers and amazing looking

Which Drill Bill Set - General Purpose

I've always steered away from these large sets of drills thinking the quality would be poor? Why do you get so many of the small sizes? - is it because they snap easily? 30p a drill seems very cheap.

    Table saw

I upgraded from a £100 Titan this year to a £250 Scheppach HS105 and say I am delighted with it. Unlike most saws of this price the fence lock front and back so very stable. For example I trimmed 5mm, including blade kerf of a 4m length perfectly. If doing a lot of 45s I would buy or make lots...

    Advice on Bending small bars/rods

When doing wrought iron work at school MANY years ago, when we wanted a 90 bend on a piece of bar (normally square) we used to create an "Upset" which was basically a bulge on what was going to be the outside of the bend. When you bend the outside has a greater radius than the inside so doing...

    Hard wood suppliers

I live in Mansfield/Nottingham area and wondered if anyone knew of any suppliers of attractive hardwoods in the area? Want to make a cheeseboard with wine bottle and glass holder. Something with a good grain appearance?
