    Orbital sander

I recently upgraded to a Bosch GEX 34-150 and am impressed. It is easier and more comfortable to use than I was expecting, and feels solid in the hand. I haven't used dozens of others, but am more than happy with it for what I paid. I have liked and second Phil's comments above, why have a...

    Porch Pirates

Oh yes there is. I note you are in NZ, so can't comment for there but in the UK If your intended use could be proved (I accept quite difficult, unless of course you were foolish enough to post a picture of it online and describe not only it's intended use but indeed instructions for said use)...

    Work Shoes

I wear steel toe capped boots, but on purchase and then whenever I feel replacement is necessary I put in memory foam insoles. Best of both worlds, really comfortable to stand on and full steel toe cap protection.

    How to finish cutting board

Please don't use sunflower oil. A quick google search affirms what I had thought: Olive oil, corn oil, and sunflower oil should NOT be used to maintain a cutting board or butcher block. These oils will go rancid. It is very dangerous, as it is a process that yields a rank smell and unpleasant...

Tool deals website - I check daily.

Many of you have probably heard of Hot Uk Deals, https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals but are you aware that you can refine the search to either DIY or tools? https://www.hotukdeals.com/tag/diy https://www.hotukdeals.com/tag/tool Of course many items will be in both threads, but I keep an eye on it...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

For two reasons, one being the upcoming marriage of my daughter, I decided to make a cake knife: The blade and shank are made of Ash, and I chose the grain direction and pattern for best look and the handle is Purple Heart. The false rivets are 6mm oak plugs I made. The finish is my own bees...

Cheese slicer kit in the UK?

Thank you, ideally I want one in the UK as the only ones I found on Ebay were in China and delivery might take longer than I've got! Need it done and ready by 8 September. Think if nothing else I'll buy this complete one and take it apart...

Cheese slicer kit in the UK?

Sorry to ask, I am proficient at Google but having trouble. You know the cheese slicers that look like a hacksaw, but with a wire as the blade? I want to make a cheese board with one of those as the cutter, and I am aware that Rockler sell a kit in the USA but not, as far as I can see, here in...

    Money's no object !

Not sure what I would buy, but probably big old machines rather than shiny new ones. What would I keep? My Startrite table saw and all my Bosch professional cordless tools.

Newbie in London - and thoughts on removing floating shelves

One GUESS would be that the shelves at some point are hollow, and fitting over a piece of wood that is screwed to the wall, that's how many floating shelves are done. Look for small screws underneath the shelves at various points, it will fit over the support and then just be secured in place.

Car tax / road fund licence

8 responses yet only one answer. What is this site becoming? Anyone suggested that instead of making his car road legal he should buy a festool yet? No, as Gerry says, you are only responsible from the time you become the owner so don't worry.
