It was their SDS drill/breaker - I'm afraid I could only recommend it as a door stop!

    Axminster white, wheres everything else?

I certainly have changed my buying habits since Axminster went 'White'. Their service is still very good but the machinery side of the business is certainly lacking in too many of the names they used to provide. My only 'White' purchase went back within 3 days because the quality was dire...

    Workshop Images

I've used a sandwich of 50mm thick 'Kingspan', DPC sheet and 18mm T&G chipboard. The Kingspan is lose laid with it's edges butted up tight. The chipboard is also loose laid but with the T&G edges glued with polyurethene based glue (10mm expansion gap around the wall edges. It seems to have...

    Magzine availability

In several threads recently there has been mention made of the difficulty of obtaining woodworking magazines, especialy from WHS. If you are near Totnes I can recomend Roybern newsagents at the top of town, who had last Saturday 8 different titles to choose from, including Fine Woodworking from...

Axminster Flush Cut Saw - left handed?

Hi All, I've just bought one of these http://www.axminster.co.uk/product.asp?pf_id=23573&recno=1 and was very surprised to find that one has to cut left to right, due to the set being on the right of the blade when viewed from the top. Is this the case with all flush cut saws? Puzzled David.

    Insurance

My cover is with NatWest who include my workshop automatically as part of the 'building' for both contents and the fabric. Many policies do have a limit of £2k - possibly an industry standard? Cheers, David

    Axminster Medium Duty Bench (BENCH2)

I too have just invested in one of these benches and I'm finding it suits my needs quite well. I collected mine from the warehouse (which was very interesting - never seen such a high mountain of toys!) and had to drive home with the package sticking out of the tailgate - very cool 75 miles! I...

    Dust Extractor with cartridge

Adam, Where did the sub 0.5 micron figure come from? I've looked on the HSE site http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/wis1.pdf and it only talks in terms of the MEL with no direct mention of the grain size. Cheers, David

All the current Recordpower extractors (RSDE1,2, 3 etc) filter to 0.5 micron. Cheers, David

    Insulating garage walls

I have steel garage type side hung doors on my workshop and have insulated them by sticking 50mm thick PU insulation board to them. All the air gaps have been plugged by various foam strip sealants, which has stopped all cold air entering. The roof space and the floor are also insulated with the...

I'm just staring to sort out my new space and one of the items needing mounting is my litle rat. I'm think of putting it about 1.2 metres up - what heights have fellow users adopted? Cheers, David

    Weight of Chipboard 12mm Sheet

Thanks to all for the replies. I found a paper on the TRADA site which gives a figure of 0.7t kg/m2 (where t = thickness in millimeters) for C5 grade. This makes a standard sheet come out at 25kg, which as C5 is denser than standard grade, seems to concur with the figures above. Cheers, David...
