    Hi Rob, really nice, crisp looking box! A couple of questions.... is the top just floating in a rebate? and have you put any form of catch on the lid like hidden magnets or is it just left unrestrained? Top job!

    I don't know the correct way of doing it but you could take one of those spare v-blocks in the top picture and clamp it on the leg so it is flush with the top of the notch thereby protecting the top corner??

    I made a set of Andirondacks with Western Red and gave them a couple of coats of danish oil and planning an annual top up. Seem to have withstood winter well enough!

    +1 for the Tulip wood, and at 4" thick would be good for ripping off drawer sides to give a more stable stock.

    But Bob, she can't cut from the other side as the wood is still in the way! Really you need to drill all the way through the board to make a hole that a bottom bearing cutter can fit through then work it out to the side so the bearing stops on the previously cut surface.

    My initial first thought was the same with regards the bottom bearing cutter coming in from the other side and running on the previously cut edge, but I think the problem is that you can't come in from the other side as it is still solid and Melzy is in effect routing a really deep rebated...

    Funnily enough my wife has just asked for some Cowshed stuff, body lotions called 'Moody Cow' and 'Grumpy Cow'! I'm just glad she asked for it and it wasn't me suggesting it!
