Sedgwick morticer - replacing collet with a chuck

I assume you mean the 571 model. I looked into this when I bought a s/h one some time ago now, and the problem was the design of the chisel/motor mounting housing prevents the fitting of a standard 12mm 1/2" chuck. The later versions which have a chuck fitted had a redesigned housing. If you...

    domino xl

I've had one for about 4 months now, sold the 500 version. It's more or less the same as the 500 except it plunges deeper (Up to 70mm). Mainly due to the cutters being longer and it's a fair bit heavier as well. Because the machine is longer than the smaller 500 the rotating cutter is exposed...

Dust Extraction for Hammer/Felder Machines with 120mm ports

Are you sure the sip has enough suction to extract from the machines you mention. You'll need a good head of steam to pull from the big hoods of those machines. The instruction manual in each machine from H&F tells you the correct air volume you need to pull along with the PU rating (static...

    setting up a workshop costs

IMHO I would think seriously again at Not taking on public liability insurance, that's a huge mistake. You can get PLi included in your premises insurance. (You are going to Insure the premises aren't you ?).

    Disposable Planer/Thickneser Blades

Agree with Digit, your only faffing if you don't have the right gear. The time difference is so small it's hardly noticeable.

    Disposable Planer/Thickneser Blades

Most saw doctors should be able to sharpen them at least once. You might have to lower the outfeed table with the fine adjuster depending on how much they take off when sharpening. If you put a back bevel on you run the risk of creating chip bruising.

    Extraction ducting advice please

Having been down the road of a fair few extractors (current Felder AF22) it's not only the volume per hour, but also the max depression (usually measured in Pa) these machines create at the machine head that makes the difference. I'm having great difficulty in the Sip producing that much air...

    Extraction ducting advice please

I have Spirolux, although with a more powerful extractor, after 14 meters you'll loose a far bit of that suction at 100mm. I'd go for the 150 as the main trunk and down to the various blastgates, then you could go to 100m on the flexi hose to the machine, (I assume the extraction hood has an...

    Morticer chuck help please....

Is that a Multico,if it is it's a clone of the Sedgwick, the chuck version came later with a modified head to allow room for the chuck and easier access for the chuck key The photo of the motor with the chuck key looks like a mod to me, although I can't be sure as it doesn't show the mounting...

    External Door Dimensional Stability

The advantage of making your own door is you can play around with the tolerances and as long as you seal the door properly you'll minimise the expansion & contraction, ie seal the top edges, bottom edges, sides, both faces, lock insert & handles holes, behind the hinges. You could go the whole...

    Glue recomendation please

IMHO forget Titebond, it's an Ok glue but there are better glues out there and for less money, Try Everbuild waterproof D4 grade, unlike Titebond 3 it dries clear, 10min set time, been using it for years. Get down to your local Toolstation 1lt will set you back £5.98p  .
