    Hello From A New Member

Welcome aboard, Richard. Seeing your other posting about how you started woodworking, virtually the same happened to me after a young, but boisterous, no. 1 son decided to break his (not particularly cheap but, as I discovered, rubbish quality) bed on more than one occasion. Having had enough...

    japanese saw at lidl

 Blimey. It has been about -4 to -6 here recently and that's low enough to dampen my motivation to get out into the workshop. Cheers, Trev.

The route to good routing Warning: [RANT]

It amuses me to see how many woodworkers, on here, manage to do their planning on their planers instead of on their drawing boards.  Cheers, Trev.

    Rob's New Workshop

Hi Rob, That looks good and should make an excellent workshop. Just one observation on your plans. The door(s) on the front elevation are shown as 4 feet wide. Obviously I don't know exactly what you intend to house in the workshop, but I would consider enlarging the doorway to 6' wide to...

    Bessey Edge Clamps

Aw, go on - half a dozen should be enough! Order them next time you are away and they'll be waiting for you ready to be unwrapped when you get home. :D Depth (i.e. width of lipping) is 45mm max., opening (i.e. thickness of workpiece) is 10mm to 55mm. Cheers, Trev.

Tormek 1200 Review (N.B. long with biggish pics)

Hi sean, Before getting too technical, the problem is most likely to caused by uneven pressure being exerted by your fingers on the plane iron during grinding. If you have an old blade or chisel, mount that in the grinder and grind the blade whilst applying pressure to just one side of the...

    Bessey Edge Clamps

Hi Waka, I have four of these edge clamps which I bought for a particular task a while ago - to avoid using any pins to fix an oak lipping to an in-situ 3m run of bespoke worktop. Expensive, yes, but excellent kit which enabled me to achieve what I wanted, and very useful to have at hand...

Hiya - What finish would you recommend?

Sikkens Cetol is an excellent, long-lasting preservative, and just needs a maintenance coat every 4/5 years. Good colour range, so you can choose one to suit. I first used it about 10 years ago and wouldn't use anything else now for wooden garden buildings. Cheers, Trev.

    Jokes 2

Nobody believes old people - everyone thinks they are senile: An Elderly couple were celebrating their sixtieth anniversary. The couple had married as childhood sweethearts and had moved back to their old neighbourhood after they retired. Holding hands they walked back to their old school. It...

Which Techniques Make a Project Stand Out?

Sorry I can't help - I'm wondering, too. "Sublime inside radius" might also be of interest to a woodturner - when I know what it is. Cheers, Trev.
