Eclipse No. 7 CP - Coping with more tension.

AES, I have just looked for the sticky you mention. Sorry to say I could not see it at the start of the Scroll sawing section. geoff

Eclipse No. 7 CP - Coping with more tension.

Hi, HS, I was just wondering about this very point today, a little light oil perhaps? geoff

Eclipse No. 7 CP - Coping with more tension.

Thanks Trafalgar, You have clearly identified me as a bad sawer, which I fully accept. As for coarser blades, I was not aware that these blades are available in different pitch. My use yesterday was in roughing out a hardwood carving block. Could you point me towards coarser blades please. geoff

Eclipse No. 7 CP - Coping with more tension.

Hi John, That is a useful looking frame saw. I understand your snag with the existing, Eclipse, blade holders. The end remote from the handle is effectively a loose rivet on mine, very difficult to remove without destroying it or the frame I would think. Five minutes with a piece of scrap making...

Eclipse No. 7 CP - Coping with more tension.

I don't need to use a coping saw very often. The one I have I have known for more than sixty years, crikey, yes it was my dad's. Of course the saw, or rather the blade, sags through lack of tension. Not needing the saw very often the problem gets sidelined, and forgotten. Yestarday the problem...

    Saw setting issue

Thank you Ian, I clearly was not fully considering the problem. I do recall, some time ago, a thread dicussing Marples saw setting tool modifications. If I recall correctly the anvil, as above, could be modified by simply turning it over. This presents a face with no chamfer, just right for...

    Saw setting issue

Isn't any given tooth set away from the setting tool anvil? To me that would suggest that the width of the kerf is dependant on the height of the tooth rather than blade thickness. Of course I could well be wrong. geoff

    My first whittling projects

Crikey, you certainly have a good eye Lons. Smashing work. The Wabbit? A lump of dry Lime stopped me in my tracks. That and the need (?) for a good mount to use when carving. geoff

    Cane repair

On aligning the two parts. If the cane is made of part of a stem from a plant or bush. Then surely the pith could be used as a centre for alignment. geoff

    Joke Thread III

Sorry Izzy, my brain clearly does not work as quickly as yours. I certainly remember the track. Probably on Radio Luxemburg. Still you've got it spot on, sometimes the local operator got it wrong. Thanks geoff.

Definitely remember girl friends number was 'name of town' 29. I had to ask the operator to make the connection. Took a while for the town to be upgraded to 4, and later six digits. geoff

    Tree Table Project

This is a tremendous write up .. and end result. I am sure, as you say above, that the most valuable thing to give anyone is knowledgeable encouragement. The drip, drip, drip of the oposite can drain anyone for life. Geoff.

    Marquetry patterns software recommendation

My use was not for scrolling. Still if you can manipulate the colour balance, contrast and brightness, of the image, to bring out the, presumed, edges you wish to pattern. Then simple tracing paper on the screen and a pencil will give you a line drawing. I have found this does not work with a...
