Are there ways I can stop a long bookshelf from sagging?

Why? Particularly if it's an internal wall...

Work just dumped Eset because of several "issues" - I don't know the detils. We've just changed to webroot. At home it's Microsoft Security Essentials - lightweight and not noticed any issues.

NZ North Iskand hit by Cyclone Ita

And the South Island! 65mm rain in Christchurch overnight, 180mm in the Banks Peninsula a bit further south. Floods, roads closed, etc, etc. Only a month since the last one. :(

Renting my garage to my business?

Yeah, but your business tends to have to be normal office type, not woodworking...

Cutting Jarrah railway sleepers into planks

I've never tried cutting a Jarrah sleeper, but I've some smaller bits of it and they're really heavy. I wouldn't want to try to lift a sleeper of it and try and manoeuvre it through a saw. I think you need to move the saw through the wood, so the chainsaw mill with the right blade sounds like...

    Building regs

When we sold 18 months ago we took out indemnity insurance as I'd done some electrical work. For £65 it meant there are no comebacks on us.

Whats "not intuitive" about Chrome? I use it at home and work and it seems fine to me.

Orange Shed Charging For Carrier Bags!

Why shouldn't they charge for a plastic carrier bag? They waste resources and are bad for the environment. Much better to go into a shop with your own, preferably reusable, bag.

    Garden drainage

And don't forget if it's a new build they will have been deliberately compacting the clay soils with big caterpillar tracked diggers just for the fun of it as well, or at least that's what they seem to do. Digging it will be very hard work - might be worth hiring a small digger for the weekend...

    Boot sale saws

You got me worried with this mention of Canadian Disstons, so I had to have a look in the garage at my 4  Disstons. The badges read: Disston & Sons Philad'a Disston Phila Disston Phila Disston USA I bought them all to use after I've learned to sharpen them but the last one was sharp when...

    Roubo

You want someone who has paid for the parts to measure them for you so he can get them made cheap or even for free...? Is it only me who finds this cheeky at best and possibly illegal at worst?

    Chilli chopping block

I much prefer wood to plastic for chopping boards for any food - the wood acts as it's own antibacterial agent. Obviously I use different boards for meat and veg, but otherwise...

    Garage Sale Drill

While car boot sales are the place to get cheap stuff in the UK, over here in NZ garage sales are the norm, most of them starting at 8am on a Saturday morning. Last Saturday I picked up this drill for the princely sum of $5, about £2.50. There's no makers mark on it but does anyone know what...

    Kity 618/619

I've not removed the top on mine, but I'd suggest it's 50kg max. I can move it fairly easily on my own. I'd remove the rails and wings, but leave the top attached, and remove the bottom half of the cabinet so it fits in the car. Easy :)

    software price rant

An it's specialised software it probably took a long time to develop and test and given it's probably limited market I'm not at all surprised by the cost. Software engineers have to make a living as well you know...
