What did you do in your workshop today ?

Spent some time knocking up a jig to sharpen turning chisels so I can finally mess around on the lathe. Jig turned out well, just need to cut a channel and get a few bolts and wing nuts to replace the clamps, but it works well. Turned a little person and tried some spindle work. Are my chisels...

    "Wipe On Poly"

Thanks guys, some great information here! I'd consider myself an intermediate woodworker but I'm definitely still a novice when it comes to finishes and this really helps! So would something like Ronseal Crystal Clear Varnish do? Just dilute with the desired amount of white spirits and wipe...

    "Wipe On Poly"

What's the UK equivalent of "wipe on poly" the yanks are always using on YouTube? The few pieces I've made I've just finished with Danish oil but am I right in saying that Danish oil isn't a very durable finish suitable for the likes of a coffee table? And do you apply a few coats of oil...

    iSocket - UK alternative?

Just saw this super handy little doohickey and was wondering if we have anything like it on this side of the pond? I'm trying to Google it but missing some keywords I think! https://www.amazon.com/DGC-PRODUCTS-IS1 ... B005ELWUWG Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

What did you do in your workshop today ?

Well the filler (P38) is in and sanded. You can't feel the difference at all but there are some tiny bubbles in it. I may have another go tomorrow when I see it in the harsh light of day but for now, I'm going to tentatively say it's done! Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

What did you do in your workshop today ?

Thanks for all the replies guys. I think. I'll try the filler first, worst case scenario I can chop it out again and patch in a plug. I may some P38 in the garage from repairing a bumper on a bus. Any additional steps necessary for using it on wood? Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

What did you do in your workshop today ?

Indeed! These things happen though as you say. I don't know if I should just fill it in with filler or rout it out into a rectangle and make a piece to fit in. It's the top rail of a beds headboard so I can use that edge as the underside if you get me. You'll only see it as when you're lying in...

Safety mod for DW745 table saw

Very clever! Simple solution. That's my biggest gripe with this saw as well. Having to fumble around under the table to find the off switch always seemed a bit daft! Will be stealing this idea! Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

Finished building Matthias Wandel's 16" bandsaw

Great project, turned out excellent! How would you rate your own skill level? Would it be something someone on the intermediate side of novice could tackle? Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk
