    Wooden plane restoration

My father in law offered my this plane - apart from a bit of flattening of the sole and accepting that the iron is 'more than halfway through its life!' :) I think it can be brought back in to use. I've never worked with anything like this, but have watched a few youtube videos and it doesn't...

    Edging plywood with plane shavings

Hi All, I've not seen this before, but that doesn't mean I'm the first to ever do it. I am too stingy to buy edging. I have edged in thicker solid wood before for stuff the wife will look at or just smeared filler thickly then sanded back when its painted, but this was just a workshop project...

NVR or Foot switch on router table

Whoops. I’ve just bought one! When I saw that there was a version without cables for £24 I decided I owe it to my fingers to have another way to kill the power. I will report back once it has been fitted.

NVR or Foot switch on router table

I’ve just had a read of the details of the foot switch above and it seems like it doesn’t latch. The note say it can be reconfigured to disconnect the power when pressed. The seller suggests that it can be used in conjunction with an NVR. I can’t be sure but my guess is that when you set it up...

Fitting a soft start module to Dewalt DW745 table saw

Hi Carpeneire, sorry - one of those weekends - my better half's birthday and Mothering Sunday - didn't get a chance to touch the laptop much let alone the tablesaw! The two videos I used are below - the first one has a better view of the wiring, and I reccomend using the spade connectors the...

Fitting a soft start module to Dewalt DW745 table saw

Found the photo - typical me - I'd taken an 'after' but not a before so it would have been no use if it didn't work. this was what I bought - yours looks pretty similar https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08N6B76PZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Not available now, but the...

Fitting a soft start module to Dewalt DW745 table saw

Hi Carpenteire, I’ve done the same with a similar module. Best thing I ever did. I definitely took some before photos. I’ll check if I took an after photo. It might be a day or two before I can clear enough space to open it back up but I’ll see what I can do over the weekend. I just followed a...

    Recycling Bins

Being new here I have a question. I noticed there’s a picture of the last thing you made post on the general forum. Would it be fair to say that this place is better suited for a more involved post and the other one just the odd photo of something to document it?

Water based varnish on top of 'Wood Stain'

Went on nicely - I'm very pleased with the results - I've posted a pic in the 'projects' forum. Builders plywood has no right to look so nice !!!

    Recycling Bins

Both corners are clipped the same. It looks worse in the photo that it is - only about 1cm proud of the door frame - but I've left it as big as I could knowing that it would be easy to rip more off if needed.

    Recycling Bins

Not a work of great carpentry, but looks better than the plastic boxes it replaces. I posted in the finishing forum about putting clear varnish on top of wood stain. Top and sides are Wickes finest softwood 19mm plywood edged with pine. Boxes are 5mm hardwood plywood. This is my first post...

Water based varnish on top of 'Wood Stain'

Thanks Mark - I'll report back if I remember

Water based varnish on top of 'Wood Stain'

My question is about the product that is sold in the UK as wood stain - water based, and suitable for exterior use on its own. (as opposed to what US folks call wood stain?) It seems to be basically the same as a water based varnish but with more pigment in it - is this fair ? It brushes on...

    Hello from Pershore

If you mean the Anchor in Wyre Piddle then its still going strong - not sure about pubs in Evesham (we're a bit funny in Pershore about going all the way to Evesham, but I do make an exception for the Screwfix sometimes when Browns home hardware doesn't have something)

    Hello from Pershore

Hello everyone, I'm a hobby woodworker - I have always done bits of diy - shelves, flatpack etc. Over the last few years I've started watching endless Youtube videos - Paul Sellers, Peter Millard, Gosforth Handyman etc and bought a few more tools and got more in to it. I now think nothing of...
