You could relocated the no-volt switch to a box on the cable, you would then need to work out the wiring at the unit itself and bypass where the switch used to be. Be careful with the power rating of your remote switches, motors use alot of current starting up.

You could restore an older cast iron lathe like a Viceroy, Union Graduate, or smaller Busgreen Wadkin.

I would agree it sounds like the pressure valve, if you are lucky there is just some dirt in the valve and it will clean out. But the power washer will probably still work fine to be honest.

I think its because normally a device with say 4 x 1.5v batteries, doesnt want 1.5V, it wants 6V, which is easier to create with the batteries in a zigzag pattern, so its a cost saving.
