    No Fault Evictions

Back on topic . . . I see the house round the corner that used to be let is now up for sale. Whilst I do not know owners rationale for selling, I do know that unless another landlord buys it that is one less house to rent (these houses are all EPC B or C - so not that). It is lucky that there...

    Theft Prevention

Sadly, the site admins continue to refuse to create a dedicated section for security - so hopefully some will pick it up here in General Woodworking Skillbuilder on Youtube have done another video. Of interest to everyone (hopefully) will be a forthcoming site "Tools Reunited" and also some...

Basically, cars were taxed on HP - and HP was calculated using a formula that favoured harrow bore, long stroke, side valve engines. Had they been taxed on capacity instead then we might have had better engines earlier - and better competed on the world stage.

New road tax charging rules wont just affect EV OR just new vehicles, its retrospectively changes your tax band

Another worry is if they go to pay-per-mile - retrospectively - particularly if they go with some of the flat rate solutions being touted. As someone who drives thousands of miles across Europe in a British-registered car every year, I do not see why I should pay HMG a brass farthing whilst...

    No Fault Evictions

Whilst I recall pictures of Leyland workers in 70s sleeping on the back seats of half made cars on the production line and the antics of Red Robbo I think the demise of the British Car industry can be traced further back - to a tax system that favoured the production of narrow bore long stroke...

Yes - parents seeking state school places are not equally spread across the country. Surrey is another place where there are no places left.

Six months - they will be hauling in record amounts of taxes as everyone sells up and pays taxes due at the current rate. A better indicator will be to see where we are in 18 months time. Former French President Francois Hollande learned all about increasing taxes and crteating tax exiles - it...

    Joke Thread 5

Yes, you need to look how far the top of the square root symbol goes - it does not cover the exclamation mark - so it is square root of 9, (i.e.3), factorial - not the square root of '9 factorial'. Clever though.

    Electric vehicles

Now Volvo has abandoned plans for all vehicles to be electric by 2030.

Bees kill off their unproductive workers and bad queens. I guess that is one way to reduce unemployment - and to keep the leaders minds focussed

"The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.” 'twas ever thus.

    Old pc update.

Is your printer connected to that purple port on motherboard - and does your printer have other connections if so. Best thing for an old PC is to download a copy of Linux Mint which is supported and far less hungry than the latest windows will be.

I’ve been breeding racing rabbits. I'm just trying to make a quick buck.

I watched the video of my wedding backwards. I almost cried when I took the ring back, gave her back to her father, moon walked out of the church, and went away, free.

I've never used a sliding mitre saw before, but I've just bought one. Looking for safety/operating advice.

I think most points are covered above - my no 1 advice, and I hope your saw is suitably equipped, is to secure wood in place before a cut with clamp(s) and not your hand.

back on topic . . . At his wedding, my mate called me the worst best man he has ever encountered. I was speechless.

A few years back, the Swiss Federal government wanted to increase the price of the motorway vignette. This was over-turned by a referendum. I see a referendum in the UK to overturn ending of WFA in same light - i.e. to undo wrongs, not author them.

Yes - as I have said many times before - there is no situation that a politician, of any persuasion, cannot make worse. Maybe AES will have something to add, but for me I think the Swiss system where the electorate can affect legislation through referenda has a lot to offer.
