Will carbon layers help torsional stiffness of laminate?

If that is all the space you have, then carbon fibre laminate is your best bet.

Will carbon layers help torsional stiffness of laminate?

yes there is with carbon fibre, not much with fibreglass as the stiffness is not very different from wood for the same volume. But you will get more stiffness still if you make it as a closed box shape, like box section tubing (even rectangular).

    Restoring old Wilmerlea table saw

From the advert on this page https://www.gracesguide.co.uk/Cecil_W._Tyzack and on this one https://www.bidspotter.co.uk/en-gb/auct ... 0700c205af it seems that it originally had a riving knife and a crown guard either fitted to the riving knife, or held on an arm. You probably don't have a...

    cc or ml?

When I was a research student, a group of us were chatting over tea and asked a fellow student, who was from India, studying electron microscopy, working in Angstroms (there's another one) every day: "How deep is the Ganges at your city?". Without a microsecond pause he said "Not so deep, about...

looking for someone to turn up a handle for me.

I could manage that. I'm in Warwick so you could come round one morning or afternoon with the old one and the wood and we could get it done and have a natter :). It's time the lathe did some work anyway! Keith

    cc or ml?

Ten metres would be decametre not decimetre. An example of why it is best to stick to SI units, m^2 in this case!

    Workshop Vegetables

Yes they are ripening nicely. The growing tips you should pinch out are the ones growing in an angle between the main stem and a leaf. Nabs' picture above shows it perfectly. You do not ever pinch off the one at the top, and the tips of every branch carrying a truss are not growing points (ie...

Wadkin BGS 12" saw motor conversion

Hope you can figure out the command for a 10 s stop. That was set by H&S as they found that most saw accidents happened after the machine has been switched off. A Wadkin will coast for a long time before it stops being dangerous!

    Moving my workshop 200 miles.

Sammy, you have to be able to get the top off - or else you have no means of realigning it with the blade if you need to? Anyway, two hefty removal guys could lift it!
