Impact Driver : Bosch Blue or Metabo

When I went to buy my first Miele ever mnay years ago, after siscovering them. I asked the shop lady in Curry (or similar) as to if they're worth the premium (well I enquired after the brand). She told me that her last one kept on going for 15 years. The only reason she bought another was cos...

Impact Driver : Bosch Blue or Metabo

@niemeyjt thanks for that info. I had wondered whether this was the sort of service tradespeople were getting when buying into a full brand! Took about a month for the driver to be repaired under warranty and sent back - no comms from FFX whatsover, even after I'd emailed em at week 3...

    How to smoothen wall paint

That's right @Spectric after getting our first taste of the trade stuff we never used the normal DIY storws again. Even the Trade paints but the same brand have so much better coverage. Bought a set of Purdeys which are about 15 years old now and still going strong - nothing like that pretend...

As an ex painter and decorator I'd make sure you get your fine filler from a decorators merchants (youllbe amazed at the difference in workability). Just ask them and they'll advise which is best and you'll definitely have a decor merchants somewhere hidden away in your town... Another thing...

Flat brackets for joining/stiffening wooden shelving?

Ended up just buying a couple of London brackets (I do hate them things, but needs must as the others were about 5× dearer). I've also added some more vertical struts and everything seems to be feeling alot stiffer now. I did think about making some brackets from wood but... Thanks all.

    Impact Wrench which one? Help

@Homeless Squirrel yes I'm on it. Already renewed the oil and filter when I bought it 6k ago (3 months) and will do it again very soon as the weather is anow a little better. I'm used to 6k oil and filter changes with the Subarus before this so no biggie - but point very well made. There's a...

Flat brackets for joining/stiffening wooden shelving?

Thanks @TheUnicorn I think you've understood it ok. Running a length underneath from left/front to right/back would make it one long length and wasn't sure Idget the rigidity I wanted. I want to attach the front and back lengths of timber so they both sit flush. But also help the front piece...

    Impact Wrench which one? Help

Funny old world Phil... For a fair while on the Subaru I was having issues of brake-shake. Initially when it happened I went to the indy Subaru specialist who told me it was the brakes/disc. So I got him some decent ones from GSF and he had his lads put em on. After a while (about 1000 miles)...

Flat brackets for joining/stiffening wooden shelving?

Bit more clarity on where the bracing will go. Underneath them newly created shelves (bottom 2) somewhere near the centres as the ends I think are supported enough for some decent weight/stuff bearing...

Flat brackets for joining/stiffening wooden shelving?

Need something from wickes or screwfix (or b and q) as it's where I'm heading now. But not £2.50 a piece (or am I being tightfisted).

Flat brackets for joining/stiffening wooden shelving?

I'm thinking something that looks like this Abru Steel Flat strap (L)80mm (W)15mm (T)2mm | DIY at B&Q But they're a bit blooming expensive. This is the shelving which I'm jsut trying to stiffen up as it's 20cm width combined with a 21vm to make a total depth of 41cm. Have added one wooden strut...

    Impact Wrench which one? Help

Thanks @Homeless Squirrel yes, I used heat, wd40, some shocks with the 200nm wrench (but doubt it did anything as it struggled even winding it back in before I'd taken it all off) and the long bar. It's a 70k example I managed to nab recently after my 3rd Subaru Legacy/Outback 3L gave up (don't...

    Impact Wrench which one? Help

Not sure if this has been said before, but for brute force on a cars nuts (sorry) that's exactly what you want. Brute force and not impact IMHO. Recently I opened up bolts on the Lexus LS430 which is 22 years old and probably not had the calipers off in a long while. So I got out there with the...

Impact Driver : Bosch Blue or Metabo

Right... So I bought the Bosch Blue set which included the impact driver (about 200nm max AFAIR) combined with wrench. So the head take both type of fitting. That was back in November as I wanted to take advantage of the 18v SDS-plus drill body you get for free by regustering with Bosch...

Any experience of wood splinter gone into your finger? - How did you get it out?

One thing I'd add to the cut and pull method (which is what I've used plenty times effectively) is to ensure anything you're cutting into thw skin with is sterile. I usually use a little heat on the tip of the blade to ensure it's fully/effectively sterilsed before going in!

    Head torch recommendations?

I don't think I'd use that site (trugear) as it appears they've just bought/been given various bits of kit from cheap (?chinese) manufacturers and then gone and reviewed with their thoughts. For example if you click on their 'best hydration' packs they don't even include the big quality brands...

Impact Driver : Bosch Blue or Metabo

@Reffc no apology required at all. I'm the same in that I'm a strong believer in Japanese produce and sourcing/peoviding business locally (if not somewhere with excellent work ethic). I'll find the article if you like but in one of my Privateer (by the makers of the famous but expensive Rouleur...

    Head torch recommendations?

Not sure. Mine is one of the newer ones (about 1.5 year old) and still attaches/tightens up nicely. The band doesn't look too stretchy so maybe the older ones were a different headband!?

    Head torch recommendations?

One of the offerings from Petzl. Working well for me and good adjustment and battery life (3 x good rechargeable AAAs. I'd not get another Alpkit one again, ever... break down quickly and contrary to what they claim, they're just rebranded cheap chinese tat (yes,I did try to chase down warranty...
