    Wood stove fans

Great piece of kit that evens out the temperature in rooms, especially if the room is long or the stove is tucked in a fireplace.

anyone tried a slightly larger blade in a Festool 55 tracksaw?

I have only ever used festool blades in mine except when I bought a diamond blade and plunge cut through 20mm slate to make some worktops! Worked a treat.... I have the Festool blades sharpened regularly but just checked my latest bill and it's not itemized,£72 for 2x12" blades, one fine one rip...

    Dowel making

I use the veritas dowel cutters, they are now quite expensive but give excellent results. Also can be used for tapering larger stock with a straight blade...

    Brummer stopping filler going hard?

Excellent filler for pin head holes and small blemishes, very fast to set enough to sand. Just add a drop of water to the lump in the pot and remix a little bit to the constituency you need.

Up and down lights, is there a problem??

Apparently they get disoriented and it causes issues with their flight paths. They are the genetically close to humans and can communally hold back giving birth due to weather and other circumstances and have communal nurseries. They are protected and are becoming more scarce. Wonderful little...

Up and down lights, is there a problem??

As an aside, we had to have a bat survey to build an outbuilding and discovered that uplighters are really confusing for bats so changed all our to the same pattern but just down lights and now only fit these on all projects.

Cost difference between S4S and rough hardwoods

Ps, there's only one pic but the Sheppach must have the surfacing fence with it. The later model had cast aluminium tables and looked better but was nowhere near as solid or as reliable.

Cost difference between S4S and rough hardwoods

I don't know the actual machine on offer but it looks to be in excellent condition but the Sheppach on here for sale are excellent machines are are extremely solidly built. I used one commercially for several years and I sold it for what I paid. They are not easy to find but I can highly...

Cost difference between S4S and rough hardwoods

A planer thicknesser would be essential imho, buying planed timber does not mean it will be straight or even dimensioned correctly. With a planer you can adjust dimensions around faults in your stock as well.

I've never used a sliding mitre saw before, but I've just bought one. Looking for safety/operating advice.

And don't worry too much about the finish of the cut as that can be cured ,after you have become confident, with a better aftermarket blade.

    For Sale Startrite planer thicknesser.

This is for a friend of mine whose dad died recently. It's very dusty looks in reasonable condition but needs a new cable as the old one is very perished. I fired it up and it runs ok but haven't the time to fully test it, there are 2 sets of spare blades that I think are part of it. I think It...

    portable chisel storage

Canvas and leather rolls have worked for hundreds of years because all edge tools were sharpened with oil so naturally didn't rust as the tool was thoroughly coated in light oil residue, as were the rolls.

Advice on building a steamer for steam bending

I always insert through dowels down the length of the box so the timber is suspended off the bottom and the steam can fully circulate.
