    Another Chuck thread....

If you have a chuck already and have long nose style jaws why not remove 2 opposite facing jaws to achieve a similar hold?

Robert Sorby captive ring tool - how to make it work!

I've heard of this problem before with this tool. The issue is that there is no real cutting edge on the tool. It's just a C shape cutter with a square edge which makes it very hard to create the negative rake between the tool and wood when using it. A captive ring tool with a ground negative...

Record CL3 - how to change chuck

When the headstock shaft is immobilized don't use the chuck key to remove the chuck. Open the jaws and use a bar across them as a lever.

    Mobile Phone Advice

Thank you for all the responses. They are a great help(y) I'm not a big fan of Apple and their products are over priced for my needs. I'm sticking with Vodafone because I've never had a problem with their coverage when traveling around the country demonstrating. The sim only deals I've...

    Mobile Phone Advice

I'm finally taking the plunge and am looking at ditching my pay as you go arrangement for a sim only deal on the Vodafone network and having some internet access; up to now I've refused to do that with my phone and have only used it as a phone and occasional camera :) . That part has been a...

Unknown spinny tool lathe type thingy??

It looks like a friction drive turned in nylon to suit the profile of the opening of a vase (?) type form. The vase (?) is held between centres with this at the headstock as the drive and a live centre in the tailstock.

Help and info required Union Graduate

Never known a graduate to be anything but 1 1/2" x 6 tpi both inboard and outboard and can see absolutely no reason why anyone would modify it to another thread size; it would be IMHO way too much hassle. Also don't understand the advice given to get a 1 x8 adapter as the 1 1/2 x 6 is still a...
