    New pyro based project idea

No problem and glad you found it helpful. It was good seeing you asking for the piece to be critiqued. When I was producing I was forever doing the same and felt my work improved through the feedback I got, be it positive or negative. And remember at the end of the day it's all subjective. All...

    More beer for me

Jacob Thanks for the reminder ... just finished the last barrel and need another kit :D I got into it when the kids got me a home brew starter kit a few years ago for xmas ... loads on Amazon. You just need a basic kit i.e. bucket, siphon pipe and barrel. Most come with some unknown beer kit...

    New pyro based project idea

Simon I like the idea and inspiration behind the piece and love the basket weave texture.(y) To my eye I find it's too organised? When I think of the forest fires I think of the burnt debris lying around in a random manner and then the new life appearing through that mess. Does that make sense...

    Patent versus Copyright

I'm not sure if that was intended as a tongue in cheek reply so just to clarify I was referring to the latest Tormek machine, the T8, not fluorescent lights?

    Patent versus Copyright

    You've obviously not used a T8:)

    Patent versus Copyright

That is exactly what happened with the Tormek Wet Grinder and jigs. The patent ran out and everyone now makes them though I would question whether they go to another level. Just check out the present Record jigs for and compare them with the old Tormek ones - virtually identical :)

I don't think they would believe it nowadays?

The reverse is also true and I'm showing my age here :D but I couldn't believe that to pay a cheque into my current account now only basically requires a picture of it being sent to my bank from my phone. Did it Monday and the funds were available Tuesday! ! !😲

    DIY toolpost / rest.

Yes the Coronet No 3 did have a saddle and banjo combination as did a number of other lathes of that era. It's just not that common these days. The No3 was actually my first lathe which I used professionally for 10 years so am very familiar with it. Your reference made to Keith Rowley's book...

    Bringing goods from the EU

Recent reports this last week with regard to Hong Kong and ex-pats on the continent looking to return home would suggest an increase in house prices through increased demand.

    DIY toolpost / rest.

Banjo - the part that holds the tool rest and on the majority of lathes clamps to the lathe bed Saddle - a part which is not on all lathes that sits on the lathe bed and under the banjo

New logo or lets house the homeless veterans

If you actually do a search, use the freedom of information act and find out how much charities have stashed away it will come as a shock to all. The amount spent by the British Legion for rebranding is just petty cash, a drop in the ocean. I recently was told the figures for all military...

How would you rate the UK's handling of this pandemic?

Selwyn, just out of interest what planet do you live on?....ignore the above quote as it was just one of many I could have used and like the others is irrelevant.

    Grinder bought!

The Sorby 447 has a lot of issues and limitations...I'm surprised they are still selling it. IMHO the £34 eBay jig is all any hobby turner needs.

How would you rate the UK's handling of this pandemic?

Asked what her updated estimate for the Infection Fatality Rate is, Professor Gupta says, “I think that the epidemic has largely come and is on its way out in this country so I think it would be definitely less than 1 in 1000 and probably closer to 1 in 10,000.” That would be somewhere between...

    Invasion of US Capitol building

I'm assuming that this is response to my post about my time in Philly etc. From what I recall Broad Street, Philadelphia isn't usually regarded as a bad area of the city; if I recall correctly it's the main street that leads up to the guy p,,,sing off the big building in the center of the city...
