    Using a drumsander

I have one of those big generic (mine is Axminster branded) 635mm dual drum things. 15amp of whatever. I'm a heathen so use it for thicknessing! (I have a thicknesser or two, but the sander gets around the tear out issues on figured wood) I find the best way to scrap belts is by taking too...

    TALLOW!!!

Why is that? I'm quite "green" and used to collect about 300 ltrs at a time. I'd do some chemistry on it and then run our car off it.

    Which used bandsaw £300 - £400

I've got one of the little Inca euro ones. 260 maybe? Except its not Inca branded, even through the castings have the same numbers... Hence being a fraction of the cost for the same machine. They are nice saws. Small, desktop, and I think you can just about get 150mm under the guard. Not...

Spiral cutter head for planer thicknesser

I have a smaller 106 Axminster and a wadkin bao/s in bits. If you can get a drop in block for the Axminster without breaking the bank, I'd say go with that. But the options for the 106 were going to cost me way more than the machine itself, and, I figured if I was going to spend all that cash...

    Cutting kitchen worktop advice!

They're not pocket change but you can buy 2m long levels. They will be straight. I think, if I wanted to do it, I'd use my 1800mm level and attempt to realign for the last 20cm. The last 600 join I had to make on a solid wood worktop was cut with a circular saw (not track saw) and then...

Barn door construction questions (what timber sizes to use)

I dont care too much what it looks like - its a functional door out of a 1970s prefab concrete section building onto an access lane.

Barn door construction questions (what timber sizes to use)

Yeah, the timber will be sodden. I was probably going to go with the "screw it all together wet and hope for the best" plan... : / Have you got a link to the hinges you mention? My casual plan was to buy some galvanised, soak the male part in caustic, and weld it to the frame. Ill get the...

Barn door construction questions (what timber sizes to use)

Somthing like this? Shown with 2x4 because a) i don't want to spend a whole load of cash, and b) the door really isnt that huge. I never remember which way up the braces go - i think ive got them correct? The small door is 650 wide, so slim, but that's exactly a third, and i think 650 will...

Barn door construction questions (what timber sizes to use)

I need to build up a door for my garage / workshop. It currently has a metal doorframe, which is approximately 2m wide, by 2m high. The workshop isnt supposed to be pretty, but it will be heated. I just need a functional door. Im thinking of using these (or similar) so as i can adjust the...

    Spray painting new radiator

Ps. Those heat resistant paints - Be aware that a lot of them need high temperature to properly cure, and, if you're running your rads at, say, 65c, that will probably be lower than the cure temp of the paint, and it will stay weak. They're generally for much hotter things. Radiators...

    Spray painting new radiator

Minimal effort and paint tend not to work well together. If it were mine id lightly abrade, and epoxy, then top coat with whatever you have breathing kit for. Or pay someone to powder it, but they will want to blast it first and that will be more money. Or, if you just want an instant job...

    Spray painting new radiator

I'm not convinced that etch primer would be a good idea over existing paint.

    Efflorescence

As has been said above, the issue is, with absolute certainty, the cement render. Replace it with lime and a lime (or other breathable) paint and the issue will magically go away. The solution is simple, just not cheap.

    Manual CNC machine

You know what the first C of CNC stands for, right? : ) That aside, a pantograph is the tool.

    Bulb Energy has gone pop

Kind of like a bank then... I pay to generate 100kw of electricity via renewable sources, and i use 100kw of electricity. At the times when my cash money is generating excess renewables, then those easily modulated sources, like gas, are scaled back as my green electrons are masquerading as...

Could we see your workings, please, so as we can look into this in more detail?

    Bulb Energy has gone pop

People, I generally feel deliberately, get so confused with the concept of suppliers offering renewables only policies and the national grid. Again, I feel this is generally deliberate rather than lack of understanding. You're not paying for electrons. You're paying someone to push them. The...

Axminster and the UKJ 10mm base router table plate and universal adapter

I have the tra001 mounted in my custom table. I don't know your existing plate but can you not just drill some holes in the right places in what you have currently?

Best pallet service that you have used

That was not the (incoming) shippment, packed by someone else, that was damaged. The above photo was an outgoing that I packed myself.
