Battery Chargers in the UK and Electrolysis

Basically as high on everything as I can go without the unit thermal tripping! I don't see that you can go too high, assuming you're not bothered by excessive hydrogen / heat...

For Sale Axminster PT106 floorstanding planer thicknesser

The thicknesser has clean tables, but does have a few "known" faults - It's blades will be blunt. Axminster will charge a load for them but there's a seller on ebay that does them for, iirc, about £20 for the set of three. I suspect it could do with a new drive belt, as it's been unused for...

For Sale Dewalt DW125 Radial arm saw / Axminster AW106PT Planer Thicknesser

ps. i do this kind of stuff, and the drum sander is way more suited - (most of my job is metal work, not wood)

For Sale Dewalt DW125 Radial arm saw / Axminster AW106PT Planer Thicknesser

Please see below. The cosmetics are not good. Its got a good few chips in the powdercoat that are causing bubbling. There is staining on the table, but, as you can see in the second photo, the original making marks are still visible on the cast, so its not like its been sanded shiny ever...

For Sale Dewalt DW125 Radial arm saw / Axminster AW106PT Planer Thicknesser

Apologies for not seeing this before - the original post is from 2022, and its 2024 now. But my "skill" at getting around to selling things properly is limited - i generally just bury them under a pile of cardboard boxes, and forget about them! So, strangely, both are actually still here. Im...

    Laser CNC advise.

If you drop the metals off your request list, you can probably achieve it for about £500, at a push. If you leave the metals on there, you could probably multiply the spend by 50 ish? Could you do it for the slim side of £20k? Certainly not off the shelf from a firm anywhere close, and...

    Jet JWDS-2244OSC-M Oscillating Drum Sander

I do resin stuff on my drum sander frequently. So long as the passes are light it's not a problem. I think the resin is so mixed with the wood dust that the chip clearance is fine and nothing sticks about. This is with 80g paper. I do final finding elsewhere. I use the drum sander as a...

Will smart meters be used for the rolling blackouts?

In the early days of broad band / WiFi, I had an ADSL contract, whilst a friend who lived a couple of doors up did not. I'd often need to be away for the weekend, and my girlfriend of the time would stay in the flat whilst I wasnt there. She would complain about my friend sucking up all the...

Will smart meters be used for the rolling blackouts?

We were categorically told we would not have rolling blackouts.

Sanding rolls for axm dual drum sander

I have one of the sanders. 600mm ish wide. Floor standing thing... Paper is an irritation. The machine is an American design, I think. They're sold under a number of different brands. Anyway, i think rolls of American paper are slightly narrower than ours, and if you use ours directly, the...

    MIG versus TIG

I would not say that I, personally, found mig easier. I, sadly, had a lot of experience with electronics construction, and, with a soldering iron, the heat source and the filler are independent. I was very used to this concept. Tig is the same. Mig, on the other hand, is all connected. Your...

No flute/Zero flute countersink cutters recommend a brand that works

I use Robert Charles / BSA regal cutting tools. I use them on alloy all the time but they give a good result on wood too.

Cascamite. Is it my incompetence or the product duff?

When I've mixed up the stuff, I follow the directions on the tub with a degree of precision. Iirc they are by volume. I use one of my partner's kitchen measuring spoon things. Anyone used to working with epoxy resin knows that you can't be slapdash with the quantities, otherwise stuff goes...

    Screwfix catalogues disappear.

The Toolstation website has a "virtual" paper catalogue that you can "flick" through (as in the pages look just like the paper one). Screwfix's website has never been as easy to use : (

Cascamite. Is it my incompetence or the product duff?

How did it work out? I've used it in the past and liked it. I'd like to buy some more soon, but would like confirmation that all is good before I do. Re mixing (for others) - it's the same as mixing a number of powder products, including making pancakes... If you just chuck in all the fluid...

Western Union - sending musical instrument.

The couriers that i have to use seem to charge about 10% of the value in insurance. Re: over insuring - My experience is that a courier will only ever pay out the invoice value.

Western Union - sending musical instrument.

I thought that bank reversals were only possible until the close of buisiness? I know, in the states, theres crazy lengths of times on cheques, but in the uk, again, i thought BACS was safe by the next day. I guess if there is criminality involved, maybe the rules are different. It may be...

    Turbo Gold screws

Theyre good screws. Not to be confused with toolstations "silver" whatever it is that are total junk (maybe ok for hand use, but sheer with an impact driver)

Facebook marketplace purchases and importing into EU

Because the EU was half of my customer base, I'm aware of policy. The 22euro limit that you mention will, I'm sure, be your gift limit. Post jan1st of this year, there is no lower limit on goods - all purchases are subject to vat.

Facebook marketplace purchases and importing into EU

There's your suspicions over principle, and there is the hard reality of the situation.
