    Scroll Saw Blades

I may be wrong as I've only recently wandered into scroll sawing myself but the length of the blade is fairly standard. It's the depth and tooth type that vary depending on the thickness of the wood you want to cut.

    Planer Thicknesser

Hi Tibi, I have the Record Power PT260 which has pressed steel tables. I brought it to Hungary from the UK and swapped the plugs without any problem. 2 years ago I built a Pergola and I put the main posts over the planer which were 150x150x3000 without too much difficulty.

Has record power gone to the dogs.

I have several RP machines and I've always had good service from them. They respond to queries quickly and provide the correct part numbers or free manuals for discontinued machines. That's my experience anyway.

    Marquetry patterns software recommendation

Thanks for that. I need to use an online file converter to make a vector graphic of my image and then use Inkscape to create the line drawing. Here's a link to his video if anyone else wants to know.

    Marquetry patterns software recommendation

Thanks for all the suggestions. Having done a little more research it would seem that Inkscape is a good Adobe Illustrator simulator and GIMP is the Photoshop equivalent. I think I'll give Inkscape a try first.

    Marquetry patterns software recommendation

I'm about to try my hand at marquetry and I have a few photos to get me started. I want to convert my pictures into line drawings with the various areas sectioned out but I don't know what software would allow me to do that. I've tried with the basic Paint programmes that come pre-installed on...

Woodworking courses ~ any good ones?

I did a beginner course here a few years ago and I really enjoyed it. I don't know if this is the level you are looking for but he does a 6 day intermediate course making a coffee table. His workshop location is somewhat rural but there was a nice pub nearby that we had lunch at every day which...

sanding turned wood on the lathe

I think it's a matter of working it out for yourself. I try to get as close as I can to a finished surface with the tools before sanding. If I press too hard with the sandpaper it gets too hot but if I press lightly then the sanding takes longer.

    Scroll saw plans

Thanks for this but the first and last link are the same website and none of the other links either work or take you to free scroll saw patterns.

    Any carvers out there?

Excellent work and I love the roof of his workshop.

    Table for a nail technician

My sister bought one for her daughter to start her nail business (never happened). From what I remember it didn't have any special surface for the worktop but it did have a vacuum system to extract the dust in the form of a fine mesh grill in the middle.

Is a multi function workshop a flying submarine?

Wow! That's a lot to squeeze into that space. I think it's doable but there will be interference between the activities in the form of projects in progress getting in the way, dust everywhere all the time, materials and chemicals clogging the space and air as well as the procrastination caused...

    The Spoon show.

    Lathe Tool Storage Rack

Here's my set up. It's positioned away from the line of fire of chips and dust so I don't have any big problem with that.

The benefits of having rotten wood in the garden.

I occasionally get stag beetles in my garden. The biggest one I've seen was about 9cm. I had a smaller one, about 6cm, a few days ago but it seemed to be injured.

    Cherry cracking

Cherry is renowned for cracking more than other woods but you also only roughed the outside which exposed a new layer of high moisture content wood to the air which started drying more rapidly than the inside. When rough turning green wood you should rough out the inside as well to keep the...

    Jewellery Boxes

If I was making a small box for jewellery I would probably use some pretty wood and line it with suede. You would need to give some idea of how much you want to spend because a cheap box will look cheap.
