    Securing Mortice & Tenon joints

Next conundrum is the bottom 500mm is going to be boarded with T&G boards set back so that the grain is tucked back away from the front edge and the board stopped short at the bottom so that it is not sat on anything wet, do I just drill the T&G boards and affix with round head ring Galv nails...

Hi Jacob, that's what I have done, back / shoulder as per the sketch below so the tapered at the end dowel pulls the joint up tight, but may thanks for the input

    Securing Mortice & Tenon joints

Got the Joints nice and tight TBF, Drilled thru so that the point of the drill just comes onto the tenon, remove tenon then drilled slightly farther back about 1.5mm and they seem to pull in tight so actually pleased - wished I had made the 1st section I am doing the one at the back as its all...

    Securing Mortice & Tenon joints

Bit of progress, made a simple Jig for doing the tenons with the Router, works well on the long lengths  bit of tear out at the sides unless I use a sacrificial piece of timber each time though ! did the shorter lengths on the Band saw which is OK but not as accurate but not bad ...

    Securing Mortice & Tenon joints

Ive looked at trying to make some form of trench stop arrangement for the Dewalt saw, with little success, it looks easier to just buy a new saw !! https://www.screwfix.com/p/titan-ttb794msw-210mm-electric-single-bevel-sliding-sliding-mitre-saw-240v/881kp

Thanks for the info Jacob, draw-boring looks like a great idea, but tedious with long parts assembling and un assembling then re assembling ! re the message from pe2dave, if i swapped them over then the tenons would be on shorter lengths yes, 2000mm and less unwieldly !

    Securing Mortice & Tenon joints

All will be through tenons so wedges are not a problem in the middle rails as I had already thought of those but I am also doing some tenons at the ends ( within 20mm of the ends of the verticals ) and thought that if I used wedges here it would split the last 20mm of timber out of the end with...

    Securing Mortice & Tenon joints

Hi all, Started a bit of an adventurous project, the construction of a replacement wooden greenhouse. My old one of about 12 years has stood used and abused and untreated for all that time and has now seen better days, on a limited budget I plan to replace with a new one constructed from...

100mm Hoses & Hose Adapter Cuffs

Evening all, Got myself all confused whilst trying to actually simplify things out in the Workshop, already have the Dust extraction set up ( working well ) but fed up of the trailing hoses so thought I would invest in the 6000mm AXMINSTER RETRACTABLE HOSE - 100MM 508481 Axminster...
