    Breeze block shed base supports

Another 15 minutes of playing around in 2D today while getting the kids off to sleep... Not sure how to work out the roof pitch, but that sort of looks right? I've got questions about windows (above inspired by @Fitzroy again). Is it worth doing a build thread or are you lot bored of them...

    Breeze block shed base supports

A bit of playing around trying to take everyone's advice on board...it seems there are many ways of doing this. I'll upgrade to 2 x 4 timbers and will insulate too if I can get it cheap enough. 1. Built in situ. Could build it on the blocks I suppose. I don't like how every other noggin...

    Non-ferrous metal turning

Yep, the right stuff can ‘chip’ just like brass. Lead or bismuth in it?

    Ironwood?

Wear gloves when handling in case it is greenheart!

I’m being persuaded on the insulation, even if I just do floor. With a 50mm air gap below the floor joists using 4x2 is there any reason not to insulate the full depth of the joist?

    Non-ferrous metal turning

Accuracy, repeatability, production, capacity, tooling, screwcutting.

    Non-ferrous metal turning

Worth a shot I’d think. I have a small metal lathe and made a multi purpose ferrule last year

Like these? https://www.wickes.co.uk/Tarmac-Standard-Dense-Block---7-3N-100mm/p/166859?gclid=Cj0KCQjw-JyUBhCuARIsANUqQ_I-fhmiDAV9BgQmQYVq1OSfIXuD_QY8NWvjhJL2bV1kXHWX4a1wqcAaArVREALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds Can’t see what I can do about that, same as all sheds? I like foxes and I’ve got a cat…...

    Breeze block shed base supports

You do seem to be able to buy some that are approved for use below a DPC, but you’re probably right I read Mikes thread, but 6x2 seems a bit overkill for this, since your average bought shed is 1 x 1 or something like that? I don’t plan to be working in there in cold weather, it’s basically...

    Breeze block shed base supports

Hi folks, I’m designing a shed which will be 4.8 x 2.4m. I’m not planning to insulate the floor or anything, it’s mainly for storage although I might put a wood lathe in there at some point in the future. I was planning to put 3 rows of 5 paving slabs down below the framed base, but have...

Kitchen base unit - odd size needed

From DIY kitchens? Looks like Pontefract, a little bit out of the way but probably. Why, do you think small orders can be collected?

Kitchen base unit - odd size needed

Might as well give them a go, they’re on the way to B&Q :ROFLMAO:

Kitchen base unit - odd size needed

I don’t seem to be able to find any bare carcasses at Wickes, they all come with doors, which I’ve already got and would end up wasted :( but I do prefer Wickes. I was all set to order one last night and then noticed the £750 minimum order…

    Hegner foot switch

They’re made by Bernstein, you can buy them from RS or CPC and wire them up yourself, the Hegner one just has a kettle lead & socket on flying cables if I remember correctly.

Mountfield Manor Rotavator issue advice please.

Late to the show, but…hopefully? As in, you didn’t try it? I’d have suggested the mechanism is incorrectly assembled and you were choking it in the fast position, have a mountfield mower that’s been like that for 10 years, used weekly in the dry months.

Braze or solder broken cast iron plane sides?

I’ve got a Tig and I’m not doing it :ROFLMAO: Joking aside, having the equipment and having the experience and skill to make a good repair on something like that are two different things, especially when it comes to Tig which is a steep learning curve. What about cutting the other side off...

Kitchen base unit - odd size needed

It could well go that way…bit wonky, I’ll just take another small cut to even it out…whoops, try again….and so on.

Kitchen base unit - odd size needed

Yes, was just about to reply along these lines, I don’t think I could do it much cheaper. I don’t like the holes inside the B&Q one but will find something similar and modify. Thanks all.

Kitchen base unit - odd size needed

A 900mm wide kitchen unit is commonplace....If its 570mm deep with 500mm internal depth, it sounds like it may be a Howdens unit, as DBC has suggested..... Thanks, but I think you need an account to purchase from Howdens? Yes, that’s it.
