    Shed build, many many questions...

Some progress I decided to use joist hangers in the end as I don’t trust my nailing. Apparently this is what you get at £50 per sheet these days I didn’t fancy an OSB floor but I’ll use it for the walls. Just loosely in place here as the insulation is coming tomorrow. No need to...

Woodworking Ideas For Gift/Keepsake/Memento for a new baby

If you’re a wood turner you could make a chunky rattle with captive rings…just make it out of a food safe timber.

    Shed build, many many questions...

A small amount of progress, due to work commitments and other stuff, base blocks there now and timber on order for the floor. I’m thinking of getting a length of that recycled decking plastic and using it in place of dpc on top of the blocks just to raise the height a little. Found some...

I’d take you up on that if I were nearer!

    Where do they get it?

In Germany for a few days, I think I’d be hard pushed to find softwood of this sort of quality in the UK Not to mention leaving it in the street and not finding it covered in graffiti / on fire / in someone’s garden.

How to cut a slate slab (and how difficult is it)?

Lovely. Bet that burns your bum on a hot day though.

Liberon finishing oil doesn’t affect the colour much and is pretty tough. Top off with Briwax.

    Shed build, many many questions...

I like this plan, time to level everything before it goes off!

    Shed build, many many questions...

Been on holiday so not much time for this but nearly there with the ‘groundwork’s’. Is there any advantage to having a block set 50mm deep in hardcore with a second block on top (mortar between) or just sit one block straight on top of the hardcore with sharp sand? Thanks

    Concrete cut out in shed

As long as the concrete slabs are solid I’d just use a hole saw to make four holes, use the lathe to make spacers level with the floor and anchor to the slabs.

    Concrete cut out in shed

What’s the wooden flooring? If standard shed T&G then perhaps reinforcement of some sort is worthwhile. A sheet of structural ply might be fine. What base does the shed sit on? Does the lathe have a stand?

    Garden room project

One thing I’m doing with mine is drawing up the materials full size in simple 2D CAD to see ‘what fits what’. Having said that, I’m still expecting to lose money, but I’m not making sheds for a living and hopefully it’ll still end up cheaper than an off the shelf model (especially at my labour...

Kitchen base unit - odd size needed

Bought the B&Q one but haven’t got round to modifying it yet - it’s not worth paying double as the whole kitchen will be gutted in the next couple of years.

Anyone have a tabletop CNC? What are the skills required?

Have a word with Exel in Burnley, they’re importing some really good machines at decent prices, Mark knows what he’s talking about. Vectric VCarve is a good all round software package to drive them.

    Bench grinder disc

It would probably be referred to as a ‘wheel’ rather than a disc on a bench grinder / off-hand grinder so that may help your search, but what you’ve seen is probably the result of the wheel being radiused to the users preference with a dressing tool.
