    Whittling knife and axe advice

That is how most hammers and axes are made. The hole is hourglass shape like. When you fitting the shaft make it conical from half way down that it fits the bottom of the taper. The top conus is then made by use of a wedge/ wedges which by hammering it in spread the wood to the opposite taper...

    Whittling knife and axe advice

I am not a carver or whittler however do quite a bit around old tools and sharpening. What you what is very personal and VERY dependent on keeping them sharp. I have spoken to few carvers and again each have their own method often dependent on what wood they use. The prevalent way is to sharpen...

Magnetic broom where to get it

I can't believe it. They have a shop locally where I have enquired about it. Perhaps my dodgy accent and calling it a broom rather than a sweeper was the issue. Never mind magnets are already on the way to me and will make the rest as suggested.

Magnetic broom where to get it

Thank you guys. Magnets ordered as the plastic sheet would not work. The area to cover is too large and place is too windy (Common drive between houses creating wind tunnel like effect).

Hi people. I am looking either to buy or make magnetic broom as I am doing a lot of rust cleaning on wire wheel and after use I need to make the area safe as kids are running all over it. Unexpected issue with attaching chainsaw to a mill

I will have a go with the shims probably secured with bolts directly tapped to the pad. We will see how secure it will be. If I am successful a winch kit will be next. Trouble for me as most people in UK is storage therefore anything bigger than that is out of question.

Unexpected issue with attaching chainsaw to a mill

Spoke to the suggested retailers and to my bad luck you can not mount any broader blade to my saw. This leaves me only with either buying another saw or adapting the pads of the mill themselves. As the cost of new saw is prohibitive for me I need to decide what method i use for the pads. So far...

    Record 53 Vice Help

Just re- furbished 2 52 1/2 one from 20s and the other 40s. Both of them had slightly offset hole for mounting it on the QR lever which could change the pressure on the half nut wrong way.

    52 1/2 vice problem

My guess would be if the half nut's cage is not loose or the return spring slipped a tooth which the does not create enough pressure to hold the half nut.

    Which water stones?

I have access to many water and oil stones and from what you telling me is that you wants something faster and at the same time finer which is not easy to achieve. With the speed you really get what you pay for with exception of natural stones which are different. You need to also consider how...

Wow that is thick and my suggestion of scraper is useless. I will have another suggestion which is a bit out of box but cost nothing. In past I was given very old door and accidentally I left it leaning against a wall in full sun. It was caked in different paints and varnishes. In few hours the...
