As above. I’m resigned to the fact that I need one. Will be largely used for milling oak boards of about 2.2m length. Needs to be single phase and I’m easy either going new or second hand.
Where would you put your money?
Thanks
Col
Thanks AJB, I appreciate the feedback. I’ve worked with oak a fair bit, including doors using a domino as you say. I also had a PT in a bigger workshop. Routing weather strip rebates has never been an issue.
I’m also pretty convinced there is no way to work around not having an PT again. There...
Thanks Gus. I’m in no rush, so don’t mind taking a bit more time. The client is my wife!!
Judging by your example, it certainly looks doable! Have you got a build/project TV thread on the go for them?
I feel like I won’t like this answer, but would I get away with a lunchbox thicknesser and then use my tracksaw to create the jointing surface? Having spoken to my timber merchant, getting it S4S will pretty much double the cost, but I really can’t see how I can fit a Planer Thicknesser into the...
Thanks Mike, I think that’s compromise. I might just be able to squeeze in a PT, but the dust extraction will have to go in the garden!! I’ve got the big Festool router and it’s has been utterly superb.
That being said, I’ll price up some oak next week in both options and see where that leaves me.
Thanks. I’ve got space for indeed and out feed by opening the doors, but floor space is a bit of a compromise. We’re moving to the house in a few weeks, so I’ll take some pics of the set up once moved in. The good news is that we have a huge shed for all the wife’s gardening crap, so it is...
I had thought of that, but I just don’t have the space. I’ve only got 13m2 to work with as a workshop space so it needs to be minimal to say the least. I’ve got a mitre station/bench that is probably higher than most, but it’s so that I can slide the table saw and extraction underneath it when...
Morning all. I’m trying to determine whether to invest the cash and space in a planer thicknesses or whether to just buy S4S. I’ve got a house full of interior and exterior doors to make, a few windows, built in wardrobes and some odd bits of furniture. All likely to be oak if that makes a...
There is a Metabo on eBay at the moment:

Afternoon all, as above I’m looking for a Kapex 120 in 240V. Preferably within a couple of hours travel from york, although I’m occasionally in north wales, and possibly around Northamptonshire if you don’t mind waiting a couple of weeks?
What have you got?!
Col
Just seen a second hand Kapex 88e. Does anyone know if this the same as the 120, but without the spring loaded bevel hinge and the micro adjuster, or is there more?
