    Compressor

Go for a belt drive they are quieter and last longer due to slower running speeds unless it needs to be portable in which case go for direct drive. Check out machine marts range I have one and it has been an excellent performer. Mike

    Dust extraction

Try the Fein dustex it's the same as the trend machine but usually a bit cheaper. The Fein bags if you use them are far superior to the trend ones but twice the price and twice the size. The trend machine however has the option of a much finer filter which is probably a good idea. (I just got...

    Chainsaw Safety?

Dave On the safety side I think it has all been said except maybe check any material for nails/stones etc. I would not recomend going smaller than a 50cc machine I have a 50cc and an 80cc Dolmar. The 80 is a monster and makes short work of anything I give it but it is heavy for prolonged use...

    Festo Plunge saw

Good choice Toby I also got my saw from protrade but they only supplied one joining bar for the rails. If you only got one then you should get hold of another one. I got a kit which included two joining bars the protractor square, two clamps, hose guide and stop. It all came in its own case. Mike

    Festool Sanders

I am sure the festool sanders are very good if the plunge saw I recently got is anything to go by. However I can highly recommend the Metabo sxe 450. It has dual orbit so will really shift some material on the 6mm setting yet when switched to the 3mm setting can produce a fantastic finish. I...

    Festool Guide Rails

I also have to agree about the festo gear. The saw and guiderail system is certainly very good and makes cutting up sheets nice and easy. However I don't know how they can justify the prices they charge. Perhaps in time It will become apparent. Mike

    Large Tri square

I am looking for a large Tri square for marking out wide boards. Has anybody got any ideas who might make one. I would prefer one in plastic or metal rather than making one in wood. Mike

    Festool Guide Rails

Woody I checked today and Festo only do the one type of angle unit. The other one I saw was apparently the old style. I ordered it as part of a set in it's own case with clamps etc. Mike

    Festool Guide Rails

I have been looking at the combination angle accessory for the guide rails but I have seen two types . Rutlands have one on their site which is different from the one on the festool site. Has anybody got one and what type. :?

    Festo Plunge saw

Thanks for the welcome guys. I have picked up heaps of info on this site by just looking at the old posts. I was going to upgrade my saw table but having read some of the posts I decided to have a look at the festo saw for panel work. I will probably change the table saw in the future but...
