    Cheap turning tools at Yandles

Hi all, I just noticed that Yandles are selling a set of 8 turning tools for £16.99, reduced from £24. I thought Yandles was a reputable firm, so seeing this rubbish on their website surprises me. I have bought from Rutlands occasionally, and from Axminster very often, but not from Yandles yet...

help needed with DeWalt band saw

Hi all, I have a DeWalt band saw ( actually the earlier Elu model) dw738. It was slow to start up, I thought capacitor, but the lower wheel is really stiff to turn. I have removed the blade and drive belt and it is very hard to turn. I am assuming that the bearings need greasing. Has anyone...

    Circular saw blades question.

Hi all, I just read about the 15% discount off Saxton blades, so I took a look at their site. Good prics, but I don't know whether the blades are suitable for a sliding mitre saw. Are table saw blades the same as mitre saw blades, or is there a difference in tooth geometry for anti kick back or...

Any opinions on Rutland's square mortise chisels?

Turns out the Record chisels are 13/16 shank so won't fit. If my engineering friend can bore out my 3/4" to 13/16 then I will go for Record. K

    Arbortec tuff blade

Hi all, Quick question. I have a Tuff blade from Arbortech which I bought a few years ago but never used. I was wondering if it could be used for woodcarving. Has anyone tried this? I know they make a blade especially for carving but since I already have this I was thinking of giving it a try...

    Rutland mortising machine question

Thanks to all who replied - yet again this site comes up trumps. So glad i joined Tony - you are indeed correct, it is the hand tools forum. I hadn't noticed that either, just went for tools. K

    Rutland mortising machine question

Hi all, I bought mortiser from Rutlands while it was on offer a few weeks ago, haven't unpacked it yet and I have only a vague idea of how it Is set up. I was looking at Record square chisels but they are 13/16" and my machine takes 3/4" chisels. Can anyone tell me what this 3/4" refers to...

    Identification help metal scrolling

These look like early Metalcraft tools. Current ones are damned expensive - tke a look as suggested on various online auction sites. So if you don't want them, I am sure they will fetch a worthwhile figure if sold on. K

Any opinions on Rutland's square mortise chisels?

Thanks Glynne. I think I will go for a Record chisel, just one, and see how I get on with that. £20 looks like a reasonable compromise between cost and quality. K

Any opinions on Rutland's square mortise chisels?

Hi all, I recently asked about Record chisels, but today Rutland are offering 4 chisels for £29.95. Anyone with any experience of these? Could these be just too cheap? K

Any opinions on Record square mortise chisels?

Thanks guys. I had an email from Rutland this morning advertising 4 chisels for £30. Has anyone tried these? Could be too cheap? I think I will start another thread asking about these. K

Any opinions on Record square mortise chisels?

Hi all, I recently took advantage of Rutland's special offer, and bought a mortising machine for £175 including carriage. Now I am looking for some decent chisels. Axminster sell Japanese ones for around £50, but I have seen Record ones for around £20. I don't want to buy rubbish and I know...
