    Trend Airshield

Very similar findings to mine. It is worth getting a second battery as it does run out at the most inconvenient times. It has one major down side though - my wife has discovered it works for my really bad hayfever and she now has me cutting the lawns for the first time in ages as it...

Lee Sorry for the delay - it popped right out of my head. I bought a large plank of reclaimed oak that came from an old barn - it took a few visits to find the right piece - and used a compass to draw the arch on which I cut out with the bandsaw. I had to have a plank wide enough to make...

    Sanding sealer - advice

Thanks. Hmm, mine didn't dry clear at all - it was very white and powdery and it took a lot of sanding to remove it. The sealer is about two years old, so I suppose it may have passed its shelf life. I'd better buy some more- trouble is when I order from Axminster I never stop at just one...

    Sanding sealer - advice

I don't normal use this, but I used a sanding sealer on some antique pine for a mirror that I was making. When it dried it turned white. I rubbed it back with wirewool and sanded with 240 grit, but it was very hard work. Because I sometimes use very old reclaimed pine when I make mirror...

    Crows Mobbing Hawk

Good action photos - where we used to live in Somerset, we used to sit on the river bank on an evening and it was quite common to see swallows dive bombing birds of prey. It was like watching a scene from the Battle of Britain with some very impressive aerial dogfighting - the swallows always won.

    Strictly an amateur...

Mostly from reclamation yards and speaking to farmers etc. Reclaimed timber is quite expensive - as everyone knows - from salvage yards so I try to build up as many contacts as possible. We have a few mirrors in our cottage but most have gone to friends and family and my wife has done a...

    Strictly an amateur...

Compared to everyone else on here, I am strictly an amateur and so far my work has been limited to making mirrors from both new and reclaimed woods. I have watched in awe for some time at the various projects and wondered at the enigma that is dove tail jointing. I am planning to try my hand...

    teak or afromosia?

I had a stack of timber which i needed to move to clear space in the workshop- some quite big boards and after I had it checked by someone in the hardwood business who confirmed it was teak, I sold it to someone who was going to use it on a boat he was building. He later contacted me and said...

    Timber suppliers - Huntingdon area

Having moved from Somerset where I was spoiled with having Yandles on my doorstep, I'm trying to find a good supplier for different hardwoods. I know it's hard to get the variety that Yandles offers, but does anyone know of any in the Huntingdon area of Cambs? I saw the map listed below but...

    Kity Table Saw 618

I bought a Kity 1618. It has been around a while and came without the sliding extension and mitre guide - but i have found it to be excellent.

MY WORKSHOP HAS TO COME DOWN AND IVE TO LEAVE MY HOME!

Six weeks! I am three months into a six month spell away from my workshop whilst we live in an appartment in London (had to move back for work). Hopefully moving to our new house (and workshop) at the end of January - a month early as I'm driving her mad now. I keep sane by checking this...
