    Parcelforce and the CBA message

Maybe the thing to do if you need to complain is to call the originator of the package and let them know what happened. They are paying the P&P so should be interested if only to protect their rep.

    Startrite 352 fence upgrade?

I have a Kreg fence on my bandsaw a Startrite 352. Works well, is very accurate and above all straight as a die. Recommended.

    Working hours experiment

The problem with managers in big companies is that they are selected for some strange reasons. Getting maximum productivity is not one of those reasons. So the issue is that all as in ALL managers need to be sent back to school/college/uni to learn how to motivate, encourage and how to...

Fine Dust and general dust extraction

Does FF stand for full face? If I get a half face and then some good sealed goggles, would that work? Yes..I use a half face 3M mask because I find it comfortable and of course they sell P3 filters.

Fine Dust and general dust extraction

Suggested masks are first try the 3M designs and P3 filters. After that try JSP (Axminster) or Screwfix/Toolstation

Inspector is right as well. Mask, overalls, ear defenders and playing Darth Vader with the kids also works.

Fine Dust and general dust extraction

bp122, We have all been through those thought processes. So a few ways to get a better balance. 1) Understand that Bill Pence is right if a little biased since he has a lung disease caused by breathing in too much dust. His research is fine if over detailed his conclusions are broadly...

SIP 01344 PLANER THICKNESSER - calibrating thicknesser bed

Just a side thought but worn out sprockets usually mean the chain has a lot of wear as well and would need to be replaced also.

    Dom's workshop build

I can not see from your last picture but Onduline will sag between the roof members such that over 5 yrs you will have a 3" to 5" sag which collects and holds water. Onduline has no strength to resist this. Guess how I know this. If still using Onduline then you need to provide either ply...

Using runners under joists or not

I'm with Mike G on this. Consider 2 or 3 rows of brick + DPM under the shed walls to prevent rot, damp and whatever goes with those issues.

Still in Rehab, but closer to discharge home.

I have bought stuff from Wayfair and found the items to be poor quality combined with poor service. I could not recommend them.

Spares for Progress 1 pillar drill

Progress has been gone for many years so options are limited. 1) Do nothing just grin and bear it 2) Make up a replacement from modern materials ( I assume its clamped in place at the bottom) eg threaded rod and a couple of nuts 3) If you have the broken bits to hand then glue back together...

Erbauer Plunge Saw - Blade Burn on one side of MDF

If you are using the blade supplied with the saw then expect it to be of low quality and almost useless. I suggest replacing it with a Freud one from say Screwfix who have both 24 teeth and 40 teeth blades for £16 to £24. Worth the cash.

    BritBox

Your issue of finding stuff can be solved but only by an industry wide agreement. The issue is that there is no usable common indexing system. Netflix, Amazon et al all try to use proprietary index/location systems as a competitive element instead of creating a common one which would...

    Track saw blades

Thank you all who replied. New set of two Freud blades seem to have fixed the issue of burning. Ply I was cutting is very abrasive anyway. This mornings cutting schedule has gone off without any problems with good clean edges.

    Track saw blades

I have a Bosch track saw bought secondhand. The first few cuts showed quite a lot of burning in the ply being cut. I assume the blade is blunt or in need of sharpening. What do I need to buy as a replacement. 165mmx20 blade. I usually buy Freud blades for all my machines. Do I...

    Any Building Surveyors onboard ?

If the surveyor provided in detail his terms of service to you then you have something to check against and if its in your likely favour to make a complaint against. You might also make a formal written complaint and request details of his insurer then write to them. Your initial RICs...

Can I build a workbench from tanalised pine?

The first thing to do is to look up the list of chemicals used to impregnate the timber then research the likely effects on humans of prolonged contact. That should be enough to put you off using treated timber. Second reason is that untreated timber should be slightly cheaper. Dryer and...

    Measuring aids maintenance

It depends on the state of your garage. Mine is 16ftx47ft. Built in 1912 and without the conventional damp proof courses. It has lime mortar. As long as I keep it ventilated, heated and keep ground clearance around it down below the level of the floor I am OK. Roof is steel with...
