abnormal drill press runout please help!!

I had issues with a similar Axminster pillar drill, a lot of vibration as it was running and other bits. I had to drill, as I recall, a number of 9mm holes in wood. They came out at 10mm. I have to say that Axminster were very good, they offered to collect it and refund, but I think they miss...

Black and Decker matrix. Don't scoff just yet.......

Horses for courses? I think this is aimed at the really casual DIY'er. And I haven't checked, but maybe it's cheaper to buy the accessory than it is the whole machine. Mind you, with the price of batteries on standard cordless power tools, the body only is starting to become the accessory to...

Circular saw to cut brass tube

I didn't think of that. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll remember that for next time.

Circular saw to cut brass tube

There's an idea! Yes, I will try that before going down the dedicated metal off cut saw. I don't know how soft the brass tube is going to be, but it's certainly worth a try. Thanks

Circular saw to cut brass tube

As I said, I posted this under another heading, but thanks for all the replies here as well. What is clear is that this route is a risky one, so I am going to either buy or hire a dedicated metal chop off saw. There's a Sealey for £70 or hire one for the day at £30. And I get to keep my...

Circular saw blade to cut brass tube

Thanks for the warnings as well. I was hoping that there would be a blade like you get in an angle grinder available and I was going to create a jig to hold the tubing firm. I approach this with trepidation and I think that the dedicated cut off saw suggested is the way forward. I didn't know...

    Tongue and Groove flooring

In the past I have put down a lot (by my standards) go oak T&G. I got it all from Champions timber, and the prices at the time were good. It is all special order, but they might be worth a bell & haggle.

    Boilers, recommendations for and against?

Yes, Worcester Bosch from my experience (as a user, not a fitter) Oh, and watch out for the quotes. The highest quote we got was £14,500 and another for £11,000. We settled for around £2500 in the end. Mind you, we live in the South East, too many clowns around here

    Axminster pricing

+1. But hey, the internet is easy to search for better prices, it's up to Axminster what they want to charge

    Mystery object.

It looks very similar to the sorts of things in my box of bits that I have no idea where they came from or why I have them. So, I just leave the bits in the box on the basis that one day I might suddenly remember.

    Ebay selling advice required

I got caught like this once. It was a largish second hand pet food container that I stated collection only. It was won for the princely sum of £2.65! I then received a message from the winning bidder that he would send a courier, but could I wrap it up in black bin liners and tape otherwise...
