    House Rewire

Thanks for the replies. The need to rewire was based upon a report my Dad had done when he signed up for one of those monthly, all inclusive maintenance agreements. Hmm? It seems from what HappyHacker is saying, we might take this with a pinch of salt. However, if we have it done we can get...

The (almost) no plans bench build

I trust you will be framing that "sketch" when you've done? :D

    House Rewire

A similar question has been asked on people's opinions of what a room redecoration could cost, very interesting. So mine is how much do people think a 3 bed semi rewire should cost? A new board will also be required. It's my Dad's place and he doesn't see the need for it, even though he's lived...

I have to disagree. Every time I go into our kitchen the gas hob is spotless 8)

Apron movement on Nicholson style bench

But where do you draw the line? Yes, I know, on a piece of paper. But at what point do you consider a project to become complicated enough to consider a detailed plan?

    Best Vehicle for Carpentry

Nah, he very cleverly blanked out his number plate so he wouldn't be recognised.

    Best Vehicle for Carpentry

The thing with vehicles that are big enough to take materials is that they do tend to be vans, or vans pretending to be big cars, or big cars pretending to be vans. Ultimately, they are all vans and drive like vans. Now that's OK, as long as your kids, and maybe even other passengers don't...

    Difference between Isopropyl and Meths.

Apparently very good for cleaning up cat pee. It stops them doing it again in the same place, so I'm told.

What is a cabinet maker these days?

Don’t you have to serve an apprenticeship to be a cabinet maker?

    Plasterboard fixings. Anyone used Gripit?

I just thought I would add these into the mix. After years of fighting with various plasterboard fixings I now only use these. They are brilliant!!

    Curved kitchen doors

I fancied doing some curved doors but decided that it would be one step too far for me. Well two or three maybe. But on my travels through the internet trying to see how it's done, I discovered this tool. http://www.curvomatic.com I was nearly persuaded :?

Thanks guys, I was advised here previously to veneer both sides, and I have done it :D

    Plasterboard fixings. Anyone used Gripit?

Leaving a drill/tool in a sink where you have just finished a job is just inviting danger. This would be the point at which not having seen my wife all day, she would appear and ask me if I was going to leave that there?

Should I Have To Plane/Thickness PAR?

Thanks Coley. You say a dramatic increase in quality with sawn softwood, but what about the hardwoods? Can I expect similar?

Should I Have To Plane/Thickness PAR?

I now know where to ask this question. Over the years I have bought quite a bit of PAR timber and have often wondered whether or not I am being done. Certainly when I go to my local yard I can at least look down the length of a piece and see any bow, but my problems have been when I have had to...

    Painted kitchen with Walnut detail.

For me the skirting board makes it look a bit more like a piece of furniture rather than a kitchen cabinet. I like it. Especially around the verticals next to the hob area. The time taken to just follow that vertical around with the skirting is really nice.
