    Notes on English Woodland Timber@Cocking

Are they hobby friendly? They have a large selection of smaller pieces with prices written on them inc vat. Ask to see the rack wood. Usually have a large selection of elm, oak, walnut etc. There is a mix of sizes and lengths in this area. Can you self-select or is it by appointment? Just turn...

    Drum sander Chisel Sharpening Jig

So I wanted to get a bit more from both my 3d-printer and drum sander and just wanted to design and print something useful. I do not have a decent grinder or the space to have one at hand... And to be honest I hate sharpening so If I can utilise one of my existing tools that would be great. So...

To calibrate: First I close the caliper then zero it. Then i attach the bottom bracket on the caliper to the table by opening the caliper. You need to export to a .stl There is a plug-in that you can download for free that enables you to do this. Although sketchup works. Fusion 360 is a lot more powerful and better for making models. It’s free to use to. Just sign up for the education one. It’s worth learning if you get a 3D...

    Assembling a design portfolio

Coming from someone who goes through a fair few design portfolios as well as my updating my own, I would say: More photos than text! The object is what they are interested in, they are hiring you mainly for what you can make. That should be the first thing they see. I like to see a title to...

    Startrite 275 problems...

It sounds similar to the problems I had with a similar saw. The issue was the belts that connect the motor to the arbour were shredded and worn, check this if it uses belts and check that they are tensioned enough.

Best filler for wood cracks in Live Edge piece

I think the cracks give it character and as stated above it will continue to dry and possible split some more. I would be inclined to make the coffee table and keep the cracks as part of the design and then maybe in a couple of years once it has stabilised you could decide to fill them then if...

Dust extraction for table saw..HVLP or LVHP??

I made this shroud for my Wadkin as it came with no extraction. I use a 32mm hose with it connected to a cyclone and then my vacuum cleaner. It collects about 90-95% of dust. I find it really effective. The direction that the majority of the saw dust is thrown goes straight down the hose. I do...

    Routing suggestions

I would recommend a router table. Not only is it a large area to balance the work. It will eliminate any chance you may tilt the router and leave a mark on your finished piece. You can also extract the dust and chips better. As your pieces have straight edges you would be able to bring you fence...

My first tablesaw: Wadkin AGS 10, help and advice wanted!

Thanks! Regarding the cover under the table: The AGS doesn't come with any dust extraction above or below. So this cover surrounds the blade under the table which then connects to my dust extractor. With this cover on I can collect 95% of all the dust that fall below the table. It makes it alot...

My first tablesaw: Wadkin AGS 10, help and advice wanted!

When I brought my ags 12 it was missing the fence and rails. I used some 40x40 aluminium extrusions and some 40x90. Work really nice. For the Riving knife might I suggest a different approach. I use this method. Works great as when you want to cut only halfway into the wood you don't need to...

    Multi TH3/TH1 Thicknesser Restoration Project

Almost there.... From this: After 5 days of work I have got a great 12" thicknesser. So far I have only spent £30 on it. I still need new switch gear and would like digital readout on it. I also still need to install some sort of dust collection. The machine works great. I also need to...

    Multi TH3/TH1 Thicknesser Restoration Project

Reassembly: I really like how "new" it looks, everything is so shiny. For the non moving bare metal parts I used a clear protective spray paint thats like a lacquer I guess. This should hopefully present the rust. For the feed rollers and table I used paste wax. And moving parts I used grease.
