    Defective Thicknesser or Hamfisted Use?

If you have any doubts about your rights then contact trading standards & they will tell you what your rights are with regards to distance selling. I have a Titan thicknesser of the same sort of style & it gets used on rough & warped boards all the time, I buy hardwood slices from a local...

    Help buying quality wood.

I did a search for timber merchants in my local area & then visited a few to see how helpful they were, settled on one that I felt most comfortable using, that may not have been the best way to do it but it seems to have worked OK for me so far lol Hardwoods I am lucky enough to have a sawmill...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Seems like its a bit of a right of passage for woodworkers! That was my reason for making some, that & I hoped at the time I might be able to sell a few lol Mike.R Those look brilliant, must be a lot of time spent on those.

Has Anyone modified a Record Power Dust extractor to give secondary filtration?

Would think your barrel would be fine, made this a few years ago now & the only time the barrel gets sucked in at the sides is if the hose gets blocked lol, it's done that quite a few times over the years & always pops back to shape once switched off.

Has Anyone modified a Record Power Dust extractor to give secondary filtration?

Has it always done this or is it something new?

    Resaw oak on a bandsaw.

I bought my blades from Tuffsaws as well, couple of years ago I phoned them & got a lot of help, might be worth you trying the same thing. One of the things I was looking specifically to do was resawing hardwoods.

First ever woodwork, I dont think they even let us hold a file at my school! Pretty happy with the result, definitely a learning process and how not to panic after a c*ck-up. There were many of them! Think my first project at School was a broom holder, my Mum still has it & uses it lol That...

That chopping board looks superb, I have made a few edge grain boards & one end grain board & the end grain board was far more work than the others. Have seen quite a lot of people who make & sell Cutting boards also sell their own board butter which I guess is a good idea, keeps you in people's...

Bench Dog Rail Clips by KJS-signs or UJK Rail Clips ?

I have only used the UJK ones & haven't really had any problems but having read Muler's post have to admit that they can be a faff to clip on at times, since they aren't very expensive I am going to have to buy a set from Benchdogs to try lol

    Custom MFT top

Maybe not the right place to ask but are people using this style of bench instead of the more traditional workbench or as an extra? I made mine because I wanted something that I could use at my workshop (rented) & my home. I already had a centipede pop up frame so built a top to fit that, having...

Bench Dog Rail Clips by KJS-signs or UJK Rail Clips ?

Description says for Parf dogs so, hopefully they fit the MFT holes. I think they call them Parf Dogs because the guy who developed the system is called Peter Parfitt, the whole system is referred to as the Parf Guide system. I have the UJK rail clips & they work fine but I have not used...

Which bench dog / MFT system?

I had never heard of a mft top until I decided to buy a track saw about a year ago, looked at how people used a track saw & came across them. Built my own & then started making bits to go with it, I can't believe just how much it has been used but that might be down to the fact that I don't have...

    Router bits

I have used them & would use them again although I have only used them for bits for the CNC machine, absolutely nothing wrong with what I have bought all the bits are still working fine but not had enough use to gauge how long they will last & if they are good value for money.

    Morning everyone

Welcome to the forum, I am new here as well & joined so I could learn more. I enjoyed woodwork at School & found my way back to it 40 odd years later lol

    Router to cut Aluminium

I noticed that Wealden increased the range of cutters they supply a while ago, not sure if they do a single flute bit but if you are using a router then a single flute bit would be better than a 2 flute bit. As has been mentioned slow the router speed down as much as you can use a lubricant &...

    First bandsaw set up advice

Don't have a lot of experience with bandsaws, bought mine new a year or so ago & it's not been used a huge amount so not a lot of real maintenance. I am however an engineer by trade so know a little about machinery in general. The blade issue & the top wheel look to go hand in hand, from the...

    Wood Identification

Thanks for taking the time to reply, I am just curious to know what it might be, seems to machine very nicely & when I post pictures of projects I have made I like to be able to say what materials I have used rather than just Unknown type of wood lol

    Wood Identification

New to the forum so not sure if this is in the right place, if it's not then can somebidy move it please. I am not very good when it comes to different wood types, I buy most of what I use from a local sawmill & it is written on it so each time I use a piece from the board I make sure the name...

    Another Newbie

Evening, can't really say that I have been lurking although I have read posts about various subjects when using a google search for info. Had a question that I wanted to ask so it only seemed right that I register first. Bit of a novice when it comes to woodworking generally & especially...
