    New Diesel & Petrol Ban

Some of you gents really need to be dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st Century.

    New Diesel & Petrol Ban

Where are UK car makers going to buy their steel now the blast furnaces at Port Talbot have been closed down? Another nail in the coffin of the British car industry?

    Electric vehicles

They have electric points at every bay in most car parks for engine heating in winter so the infrastructure for slow charging is already there.

I haven't checked but I'm guessing there are tax incentives at work there. EV sales in Norway are outstripping petrol ICE (but not diesel) too - ironic really given that their economy is built on oil.

People driving horse-drawn carriages probably felt the same when they saw the first automobiles. That's progress. My daughter loves her company EV and looks on ICE cars as old fashioned. She navigates the world using her phone, be it available chargers, online banking, the heating in her flat...

Of course. And until the BBC whip up the next false 'shortage at the pumps' round of hysteria.

Call me a cynic, and I may be way off base here, but I'm starting to get the faintest suspicion that Yorkieguy isn't 100% behind our new Labour overlords. 😉

Whether or not they can afford them or need them. You can thank the growth of TV advertising, and now all-pervasive social media for that. Edit: oh, and our gullible human nature of course.

Oil prices have been falling for the last two years despite everything OPEC and Putin have tried in order to maintain a target price of $100/barrel. Currently it's around $67/barrel (Brent crude $71). There is the argument that we have reached 'peak oil' and due to the push away from fossil...

It's the same with tattoos. They are considered normal now but people often take offence to the swastika tattooed on my forehead for some reason.

Quoting myself: I just heard on the radio that EDF are offering a tariff with free electricity on Sundays. For the mileage I do, that would mean free charging.

My daughter is one of those with an EV (company car) and no off street parking. She lives in a flat on the main road through a suburb of Bournemouth. Fortunately I am less than a mile away and have ample off street parking so we had a charger installed and she charges from here. She regularly...

    Electric vehicles

Absolutely. An EV is basically a big washing machine motor with lots of clever electronics. (Yes, I know, that might be oversimplified a bit - but not a lot.) Compare that with a modern internal combustion engine with thousands of parts machined to incredible tolerances and high temperatures...
