    Exterior MDF

+1 for Tricoya. Have used this for external planters for a client and have lasted well. The stuff is completely resistant to water in my opinion (god knows what they put in it). First time I used it I was sceptical so placed some in a bowl of water for a couple of months and showed no noticeable...

    Oilstone boxes.

An oil stone box was one of the first things that I had to make when I was doing my apprenticeship at college. It was out of a scrap bit of mahogany I think(shows how long ago that was). Still have it now and take a lot of joy from the fact that that it has lasted as long as me (and has aged...

What to use to "scoop out" chair top?

Have just scalloped (is that the right word) the top of a bar stool today using this. http://www.yandles.co.uk/rotarex-r2-115mm-shaping-disc/p20661 Not done it before and came out quite well. I, like you, didn't want to spend a lot of money mainly because I didn't know how well I would get on...

When will this pallet furniture trend end?

As you all say it seems to be a trend at the moment. So much so that I have just been commissioned to make a load of benches (and I mean a load) for a chain that needs to have the rough sawn pallet look but using sawn joinery grade timber. As they say it takes all sorts!

    Dust Extractor Noise Reduction

I feel your pain. I do have some problems with misting but in all honesty it depends upon what i a doing. Tend to use goggles (actually wrap round glasses which I feel allows more air flow) on large machines (tablesaw/planer thicknesser) with ear defenders and found this can be very 'foggy'...

What did you do in your workshop today ?

After years of prevarication I have finally insulated and boarded out my workshop. Only took a couple of days. It is actually a nice place to work in now. Should've done it years ago!!

    A very bad day!!

So sorry for you adidat, Nothing worse than taking something that allows someone to make a living. As you say will be sold on for next to nothing without any consideration of the damage it causes not only to you but your family as well. As has been mentioned previously in another post there is...

    Dust Extractor Noise Reduction

Yes have had it from new and no it has not got louder. It is just a very loud extractor which i have only used in short bursts till now so been able to live with it but need to use it a fair bit at moment so become more of an issue. Its not one that Axi make any more as they now have the Numatic...

    Dust Extractor Noise Reduction

Did wonder about this approach but to be honest putting the noise outside is not really an option for me.

    Router table starter switch?

I used this one and found it worked fine. As said previously by others the plug in and go ones seem to me the way forward although think the trend one is such type. http://www.axminster.co.uk/axminster-nvr-switch-with-c-w-13a-socket-230v-1ph-508295

    Dust Extractor Noise Reduction

I have an old Axminster 50L drum dust extractor that i use for dust extraction on hand powered tools. Suction is great but the noise is not. So much so that I was thinking of buying a quieter version (think they now do Numatic brand versions which are supposedly much quieter). Looking online...

    Anyone used these at all

Thanks all for your replies. As you say the video doesn't exactly fill you with confidence. Think I will stick with the original idea and go with the Jet 16-32. The video seems to show quite an alarming level of self assembly for a table saw (unless he dismantled it to get it in his workshop)!

    Anyone used these at all

Was wondering if anyone has had any experience of using this brand of machine. Have been looking at buying a drum sander and came across these. Not heard of them myself. Only seem to be available on...

    Experience with anti fatigue mats?

Just to echo what others have said, I have had PF for about three years now caused by wearing flip flops for a month whilst in Australia on hols, and can only sympathise as it is a horrible pain. The mats work very well but not in isolation in my experience. I bought the Rolson ones which are...

    Advice please

Can only comment on the Dewalt but have been very impressed with it, cuts nice and leaves a good finish. Not used the router attachment but would imagine other routers would fit (if not a multi base should solve the problem). Don't know your area and dont know how far you are from Axminster...

    Power Carving/ Sanding discs

Thanks guys, think I am erring towards the Saburr Tooth style as its feels as if you have more control. I could be completely wrong of course!

    Power Carving/ Sanding discs

Have to admit the power carver does look like a bit of monster.
