    Construction adhesive?

Internally, I've used 'sticks like sh*t' from screwfix and was very surprised with how good it held. Helped a mate retile his roof a few years ago and he used 'sticks like sh*t turbo' to bond the small tile cuts on several hips and valleys. Worked a treat!

    Joke Thread 4 (closed).

Good god! Be very careful as some one here will take offence with that as, even though it's intended as a joke, you've insinuated that only women do the washing up. Shame on you.

    Have any dumb dreams?

Interesting thread this. I have a relatively recurring dream where I'm left on my own (in life) and I hate it. Always wake up frustrated and in a horrible mood for a few hours. Funny one I read on a recent YT vid comment in relation to excuses students had made to lecturers about why they were...

    Safe workshop heater?

Thanks for the reply. I think I'll take the plunge and treat it as an Xmas present to myself. My shed has very nominal insulation and the thought of emptying it to update it makes me shudder 🙂. I like the idea of heating sand. I also like the idea of using a rad but wouldn't there be a risk of...

    Safe workshop heater?

I'm very interested in a diesel heater for my 7x3.5m shed. I've read around them for months but will still not commit, reading this post has rekindled it for me. Could someone answer some basic question for me please..... 1. My thinking is to mount one externally and so both intake and exhaust...

Central Heating Push Fit Fittings - Soldered - Tectite

I used copper for years until I called in to see my brother who was renovating his house with plastic. He used JG speed fit for virtually everything (ch and h/c) and we then had the 'friendly' discussion about 'they won't last'.....'you're mad'.....'you wouldn't get me off copper' etc etc. When...

    One family's solar story

Could someone either confirm or refute my thoughts on battery storage. We had solar fitted about 3yrs back and it's on track to payback around the 9yr mark. I, like a lot of people, would love to have battery storage fitted but (and here's my point) for approx 3-4 months of the year our 4.2kw...

Microcontroller controlled Iris Dust gate and switch

This is brill! I look forward to seeing how it goes for you. I've tinkered on and off for a while with my own idea for motorising the 'standard' pull/push blast gates but this has now got me thinking. 👍

    Radio for workshop

I have Alexa in the shed and, apart from listening to Spotify and radio, 'she' controls my dust extractor and TS vacuum. There's a flash sale on at the mo and you can get a normally £25 flex for £5......no brainer...

    Dual Tuya energy monitoring meter

Does anyone have one of these and willing/able to answer a few questions I have? I bought one just for the hell of it and because it was only a few pounds.

    Insulated Stud Wall Ventilation

I'm in the middle of doing something similar to you. What I'm doing differently is that I'm also adding a raised (battened) floor where the battens line up with the wall studs. This means that I have continuous air spaces from wall-wall or floor-ceiling. I have this because I have not fitted a...

Miraculous waterproof paint recommended by Paul Sellers

Just watched a YT ad for a brush applied, clear, waterproof paint and it's more than miraculous......so much so that I clicked on the link to take me to the manufacturer. Scrolled down and amazed to find Paul Sellers' twin (Turner, M) has given it 5 stars! Wow, I must buy it! 😆 not sure if this...

    Removing bitumen from recycled flooring

I had to do the same job many years ago and, if I'm remembering correctly, spent ages seemingly getting nowhere and losing the will to live. Having tried several methods I then remembered my resonating tool which made much lighter work of it. From memory, it was not perfect, but completely...

Lead flashing or non lead flashing?

I was interested to read the positive comments on Flashband as I've used it several times, in lieu of lead, and not had any issues. I've heard many negative things but they all seem to be hearsay. Anyway back back to flashings, just wanted to note that I've made a few out of left-over coloured...

Adding remote switch to 2 way circuit

Just realised that in regard to my previous 'ps' and now that I know about the ewelink scenes, my smaller vac could now be triggered by the larger unit as this is exactly what you were referring to ie one routine triggering another. In my situation I don't actually want that to happen as I want...

Adding remote switch to 2 way circuit

Reading your initial post has sent me down a rabbit hole this morning 🤪 I have several 'sonoffs' but never considered whether the action of one could trigger an action in another. My first assumption was that it must be possible so I went straight to the Alexa app followed by google etc.....I...
