    How good is Amazon

Not quite accurate :) there are many things that a business can't necessarily claim - and complexities on how you claim other things - part of what makes our tax system so complicated... but in principle I agree with your concept that a flat charge would work better - it would also be very easy...

    How good is Amazon

correct... why is it Amazon’s job to determine what is a correct or fair level of tax? That is why we as a nation pay MPs and the huge staff at HMRC etc. If they are getting it wrong, and leaving ‘loopholes’ then sack them! Why is it appropriate as a nation to pay out millions in salaries to...

    How good is Amazon

I get it when people say that, but isn’t it a bit of an excuse? if there is a difference between the spirit of the law and the reality, then simply put, the law makers have messed up! I object to: - law makers (who have the power to write any law they want) messing up what they write -...

    How good is Amazon

Society uses a lot of pejorative language - the concept of loopholes in this context is technically wrong... Government and its agencies (HMRC etc.) set the rules or law as to who has to pay tax, and what they have to pay... A 'loophole' is no such thing - it simply implies that those setting...

    How good is Amazon

I suspect that he is no longer interested in money (perhaps wasn't initially) - the drive for achievement in successful entrepreneurs is often not money related... He has goals and vision he wants to achieve, and I suspect that finances are irrelevant other than as a tool to allow it to happen

Moving the table saw in the workshop

In my youth - many years ago, I had a laser printer which weighed 80kg (also had an RRP of over £6,000!) - I could lift that myself, and didn't damage my back - it used to go from my parents' house to digs at uni and back every term... So I would eat some wheatabix and crack on!

Advice on which youtuber might review my new products

I would support some of the other comments (in a desire to be constructive) - for both products, there is a feel of something knocked up in a workshop, which negates a sense of value, making suggested changes such as to a knurled knob would give a more premium feeling which makes it easier to...

    Land rover

A Richards Chassis is only £2.5k - £3k inc. vat :) not sure I would be spending £5k anywhere - even adding in a new bulkhead shouldn't take you up to £5k My LWB Soft Dash RR has recently gone through 18 months of body off rust removal - amazingly, after 8 years in a field (prior to my...

Places to live in Gloustershire / monmouth

I have spent a lot of time in Monmouth - it is a lovely town - quite English for Wales, but it has been in England in the past as well... I used to cross through the forest of dean or via Ross on Wye lots of fab areas right across Gloucestershire and Monmouthshire

    Land rover

they are brilliant, (esp. if you are happy to do your own mechanics - 2 spanners and a hammer!) however, if comfort is a concern - and while I have driven them a lot I wouldn’t do long journeys in one - then there are alternatives in the discos or range rovers... depending on age / budget I...

Wood related books - now all spoken for.

sadly unlikely, when he mentions with one of the projects that if very simple and only needs you to make three tools, you realise that it is at another level! but lovely to read and inspiring, and makes you realise that you can get very creative with a lathe, it is not all about light pulls and...

Looking for recommendations to buy a decent portable/foldable workbench

I have a new (last few months) Black & Decker workbench - seems fine to me... it is a functional piece of metal which hasn't fallen to pieces yet! I also know a few people who like / rate these plastic ones: Mac Allister Folding Workstation - which is I think the same as the Keter one suggested...

    Apprenticeships

I think that apprenticeships now can vary hugely - someone I knew was looking at the JLR one - you could go in on an apprenticeship scheme for 6 years and come out with a degree in engineering / 6 years experience at one of the top automotive companies in the world, on £36k p/a by the end and...
