    Extraction confusion

Also consider a general filter for the workshop - the vacuums simply take in what they can grab from the machine but quite a bit will still escape at the machine - and will be unfiltered - I have a simple workshop filter in addition to mask and vacuum and the quality of the air is noticeably better

    What cost for European Ash

well done - and as you say a good lesson, and learned at a far cheaper price than it might have been - now get yourself some wood and lets see the build thread! :)

    What cost for European Ash

Yes - it will take them quite a bit of time... but that doesn't change the law ;) If I walk in off the street and ask the same thing and they spend that same amount of time picking out wood, and then before paying I change my mind - there is no obligation for me to pay them for their time -...

    What cost for European Ash

I suspect that you could recover other monies if you wished to pursue them - they would have to show that any monies they kept were justified... and exceptional to normal business - i.e. anyone walking in off the street would take up their time moving wood around - it is a cost of their doing...

    What cost for European Ash

A bespoke product would be if they have cut to size for you / have engraved it / have made it in any way different to a product they are offering to sell in their normal course of business - taking it off the shelf to select it for you does not make it a bespoke product - that clause is only...

    Poker chips

Good to see you taking this on... my mission to turn the forum into a (board) games forum is working! At 3mm the obvious easy options are slicing dowel - which I will do for the number disks in the settlers of catan game, (though I understand the desire to get the grain right)... or laser...

Settlers of Catan - or cutting hexagons...

The laser will in theory cut the wood but over a number of passes and a burned cut not clean... this photo shows today’s work- the port triangles which go around the board - same principle in printing a triangle and then rough cutting with the bandsaw and finishing on the sander, but far more...

Charge for using copyrighted photo PicRights

for that first point - I partially agree, though the table illustration could be replaced with e.g. theft of other resources, either where you have large stock so the effect is lessened, or digitally where eg theft of software or a book is taken more seriously than theft of a photo... other...

Settlers of Catan - or cutting hexagons...

will play with that - sounds like a good idea, and confidence with the routers will come from use... not over complicated - a better route to a better end product! - if it works could still do it with these ones and take out the rough bottom to the hole...

Settlers of Catan - or cutting hexagons...

very good question! - didn't think of it - not very experienced with my routers = slightly scary! - not quite sure how I would do a circle - assume that I would need a template... I think it would give a much better finish, but need to learn how to do it - forstner bit = very easy, pull lever...

Settlers of Catan - or cutting hexagons...

Thank you - there is a slight style to the outside of each leg which has a slight curve to it and a line down each leg - though very subtle and you can't see it in that photo... other than that it was mainly to my design - most people my parents found worked on the principle of a normal chess...

Settlers of Catan - or cutting hexagons...

Thank you - yes, I have plans to make wooden versions of many of the games I love - I am quite a keen player of board games, and to use beautiful wooden versions should simply enhance that enjoyment... it started when my parents commissioned a chess table for me for my 21st (see below) which is...

Doesn't this also come back to more fundamental philosophy on the right to own anything - from physical property to IP - fundamentally the pattern of finding images and just using them online is basically theft, if someone on here builds a table then they have a fairly understood moral and legal...

Settlers of Catan - or cutting hexagons...

Thank you for the other suggestions - I think a jig to stop it being sanded beyond the line sounds a good idea - I will have to work out how to do that... Yes, making it for myself - it is a game I love, so it will be nice to have a more beautiful / tactile version to play with... Not tried...

I have no issue with marking an accurate line - the laser engraver draws it for me very accurately indeed... it is the process of finishing up to the line that is most challenging! :)

Things you can't dent with the spouse

Fortunately my wife does get it, but being a surgeon means she has far more expensive and fun tools at work then I will ever have in the workshop!

I love the fact that there are so many creative options! Thank you Farm Labourer - a kind offer but I already have a master it is partly the small size of the pieces which makes it more challenging... I tried the suggestion in the video above on the mitre saw and it works well - in fact as I...
