My first thread….table saw, sander and dust extractor….be gentle….

After giving this some thought I decided to write myself a little table. It might be useful to post it here: If dust extraction is key for your gym kit compatibility then a track saw may be top of the list; its the only tool I have that gives exceptional dust extraction. It has a cowl over the...

What are your woodworking goals for 2024?

I've visited this thread 3 times now, each time thinking I would have a clear picture of my goals, and each time my mind is blank. I'm not sure what that says about me but maybe my plan is simply to have no plan? It would be nice to focus on making stuff and not on organising my workspace...

    Wooden plane for xmas

My sister bought me an old wooden hand plane, thought it was a pretty cool present It actually worked pretty well straight out of the box, although I must admit I have no idea how to set it up!

thanks - I think I will try the 'multiple thin strips' approach you suggest, sounds like my best option right now

My first thread….table saw, sander and dust extractor….be gentle….

Dust It took me a while to work out the importance of dust extraction. For a while I was working in a dusty environment and eventually I realised it was taking the pleasure out of woodworking. It's also not healthy. So I have upgraded to a Festool MIDI now, still a shop vac (LVHP), but filtering...

Chopping board with curved inlays - advice needed

Hi All, I am nearly finished with my chopping board project but I have reached the part I was worried about - it's not going to plan. This was it two days ago but its gone backwards since then The curved inlays are problematic, the pic above is a dry fit where I tried to pre-stress the...

Cyclone + Festool MIDI for Makita 2012nb planer

I have a number of power tools and all are working 'reasonably' well with my Festool MIDI for dust collection, despite them all having different port sizes: My Port Sizes Festool MIDI 27mm hose, Int.23mm, ext.tapers from 33mm to 36mm Makita battery Planer 45 int, 50 ext Makita battery track...

Well I'm quite new to woodworking, in fact my first project was building the workshop. Then I spent some time making benches and french cleats so that the workshop was useable. So only recently have I started making stuff. I've made a few little boxes and stuff with dovetail joints just to learn...

Is that two band saws? A nice luxury if you can have one for resawing and another for curves 👍

    Einhell or Titan?

We use the titan breaker at work, it gets abused and hasn't broken despite it's tough life.

    Show your sheds

I don't offer garden parties but I do show people round on occasion; I run a garden room business so they need something to look at. I don't think my workshop is really what they want to see but hey ho. Your workshop looks a bit bare... 😅

    FTAGH Wickes shop vac

I am in Billericay in Essex. No bag, I use it without and seems to work ok - it has a cylindrical filter inside the unit Electrics are intermitent - sometimes it works perfectly, other times it doesnt. I found that if I move the cable at the point just as it enters the vac it works, seems like a...

How about we post pictures of our sheds? Whenever somebody shows a picture of theirs I'm always fascinated to see what stuff they have / how they have organised it etc Both inside and out would be interesting I think.

    Scheppach 1100w dust extracter

I use black tape to fine tune the external diameter of these sort of hoses and get a tight fit. Martin
