    Sander and vacuum

I run a festool sander and MIDI extractor combo. The Bluetooth button on the hose is an absolute game changer for me. Also the standard festool hose doesn't snag on edges of worktop when using tracksaw. Another big benefit for me. I don't have tons of experience with brands but the MIDI is the...

    Smartwatch for the workshop

I have the opposite experience. I find that glancing down at my watch when my phone beeps usually confirms that what's just landed is in fact 'non-urgent' and something I can look at later. I don't look at it every time it beeps but a little glance across is all it takes and I find that...

    Smartwatch for the workshop

my Garmin does 3-4 weeks on one charge, I'm not a huge fan of watches that need charging overnight

    Smartwatch for the workshop

I'm a big garmin fan, but it might be overkill for you... depending on price, and if you do fitness activities. I have a Garmin 935 and love it, but the fenix range is essentially the same watch in a more rugged package. The sapphire screen is brilliant and scratch resistant but the fenix was...

    Work Gloves

Agreed, these are warm and great value. But a proper nightmare to get off as the lining doesn't stay inside the glove

    Show your sheds

yeah, I'm guilty of that too, or at least I was until I got my festool - I think I just like pressing the little bluetooth button :)

you have managed to cram in some serious equipment there. I have that bandsaw - you might be interested in my dust collection mod which I put in place a few days ago, dust collection is 100 times better now. I only have a shop vac but with my mod I'm now pulling directly from underneath the...

Cyclone + Festool MIDI for Makita 2012nb planer

I like to do everything inside, it's warmer and it keeps the noise contained. But nice idea 🙂

Cyclone + Festool MIDI for Makita 2012nb planer

Wow that's a cool little adaption! Nice work! I'm interested in how the hopper is attached, does it just slide in?

Cyclone + Festool MIDI for Makita 2012nb planer

The bore on my thicknesser is 67 internal. So if I used a hose that fitted inside that then in theory it would be under your 63mm. So it should work?.....

Cyclone + Festool MIDI for Makita 2012nb planer

would like to bump this one as still wondering... has anybody tried to run a 75mm hose into a cyclone, driven by a shop vac only? I don't want to have to buy a second vac just so I can use my thicknesser

My first thread….table saw, sander and dust extractor….be gentle….

You have picked out the two extremes of the spectrum there, but there is a middle ground that represents the sweet spot for most people. Bang good occupy this space on the market, and a few others. There are plenty of YouTube channels out there helping us consumers find the right blend of price...

Chopping board with curved inlays - advice needed

Well I am going down the route of the 'multiple thin strips' strategy and it seems to be working much better. I have done a single glue up, with cling film on the board to protect it. I will have a look tomorrow and see how the inlay comes out Martin

Mine will be used otherwise it's pointless.

Yeah. I went with anthracite for similar reasons.

My first thread….table saw, sander and dust extractor….be gentle….

I agree. I think I should have labelled the convenience column differently. Maybe call it 'repeat cuts' or just 'fence' because that's what I was meaning really.

Chopping board with curved inlays - advice needed

thanks, this looks like best option. the tricky part is that I have stripey inlays, so I need to line them all up too....
