That's really interesting that metabo remote you linked! I didn't know it existed - it looks like a great halfway house if you don't want to invest in festool kit.

Sold Axminster TS-200 table saw with sliding fence and stand - Essex / East London

Hi, I'm interested in full thing, could you confirm location please, thanks. I am billericay Essex.

    Thicknesser

Mine sometimes leaves a bit of snipe and other times doesn't. Haven't figured that out yet. How do you recommend setting it up? Sorry if that's a basic question 🥺

Band saw blade - cobalt m42

Sounds like a good decision then, especially as I have some hardwood to resaw.

Band saw blade - cobalt m42

I've just ordered a new 1/2" blade from tuffsaws. Decided to go for the m42 steel, it's nearly 3 times the price but is much tougher, according to the blurb. It should last longer (it says 10 times) and is also able to withstand the odd screw or nail. Hope it was worth the extra, it's blown my...

    Saw stop ( USA )

Cheers 🙂 interesting. I think I'm pretty safe with that sort of tool now as I use them everyday but I've only learned that through experience and in reality probably a number of close calls. I reckon that initial learning phase is where the most benefit would be, but nobody is immune, no matter...

    Saw stop ( USA )

Most stuff migrates across here at some point so I agree with your prediction. It would be brilliant if it could be on circular saws too but it's probably not possible. Bulky mechanism, and needs to be earthed etc Martin

    Saw stop ( USA )

you're conflating miscomprehension and disagreement I both understood your point and I disagree with it; it doesn't have to be one or the other people other than yourself can have valid opinions and conclusions

    Saw stop ( USA )

your point: its safe to keep your hands away from the blade other peoples point: its safe to keep your hands away from the blade and even safer to keep your hands away from the blade in addition to having an electronic safety aid running alongside in parallel what you hear: its safer to have an...

    Sander and vacuum

That was precisely my logic. Seemed like a lot of money to pay for a simple feature but now I have it I'm 100% convinced it was the right decision. I use to use the pass through power on my old extractor with my mitre saw, because I could leave that one tool plugged into it, but it didn't solve...

    Saw stop ( USA )

Would you be able to draw me a diagram please, I still don't get it?
  12. Molynoox

    Saw stop ( USA )

So your position is that accidents don't happen to experienced woodworkers? A diagram would help, yes.

    Saw stop ( USA )

Hypothetical question: if you lost your hand in a table saw event next week, would you opt to buy your hand back for £1000 if that was an option?

    Saw stop ( USA )

Safe working practices + additional safeguarding tech. = maximum safety. You seem to be seeing this as one thing or the other, but they are in fact compound and accumulative. You can have your cake and eat it.

    Saw stop ( USA )

A little anecdotal but probably a fair point all the same. Martin

    Sander and vacuum

U If you power up your sander through the festool MIDI there isn't a point. If you don't do that and / or use the festool with multiple other power tools then the button is much more convenient and faster
  17. Molynoox

    Saw stop ( USA )

I've often wondered that before too... In the case you describe... it's fast working against fast, so who wins.
  18. Molynoox

    Saw stop ( USA )

I think overall it would be safer than a saw without the technology. I can't imagine many people ignoring the dangers because they know they have the tech. to protect them. An interesting statistic, if anybody has access to them, would be to understand if the amount of car accidents increased...

    Sander and vacuum

What is the hose like on those Jacob? Is it smooth or ribbed? Just wondering if it catches in edges like my old vac used to. Drove me mad.

    Sander and vacuum

CTL MIDI The CTM is the same model but with a warning when the filter needs sorting, so effectively the CTL is an 'M' class vacuum if you can live without that warning. Which I can. I know you can do the remote socket thing with a cheap socket adapter from Amazon or whatever, which would be a...
